After being betrayed by his stepfather, Lucas finds himself caged with Beast. Beast is a huge, ruthless fighter that is also being held against his will and forced into these underground fights. Lucas’ only job is to keep Beast alive after he sustained a brutal injury in a fight. The only issue is, Lucas doesn’t have the training to do so, and Beast doesn’t speak, so he isn’t able to properly communicate what he needs. Lucas is equal parts terrified and intrigued by Beast. After a while of being forced in such a close proximity the two begin to form a connection, and find solace in each other. Beast begins to find his humanity again and is willing to do whatever it takes to keep Lucas safe. As their time together grows so do their feelings and eventually Beast aka Roman begins speaking again and eventually they escape. But can a relationship forged in such a dark place survive in the real world?
I devoured this story! Seriously, I couldn’t get enough! I loved that Lucas and Roman were able to create something so pure and special from something so dark and vile. Their relationship was truly incredible and the connection they shared was palpable. There is no shortage of delicious depraved spice too! Like WHOA! I am so excited for more of this series to be released in audio!
Speaking of audio, Possession is narrated in duet by Sean Masters and Oscar Reyes. These two were absolutely brilliant bringing Roman and Lucas to life. Sean’s deep and growly voice was perfect for bringing the giant fierce Beast to life. Oscar was slightly more soft spoken which captured Lucas’ personality so well. Both narrators put a lot of emotion into their performances making Possession such a treat to listen to.

5 - I am always so happy when I see that this author has a new book coming out and like previous books, I just devoured this. There is just something about the way this author writes romance with darker elements that really works for me (though I am typically a low angst reader). This is a captivity romance and the forced proximity aspect along with the non-verbal MC means that the way to the development of romantic feelings is very intense. Roman (The Beast) is forced to fight and in the course of fighting, he is injured a lot. Lucas has been betrayed into captivity by his stepfather - his role is to tend to Roman. As a result of their circumstances, they are forced to be together and to learn to communicate with one another. For the Beast, Lucas becomes his in every way. For Lucas, Roman gives him all the attention and protectiveness he has never before received. I love their darkness and how their emotions develop in this horrible place as well as after. I had tears in my eyes many times during this read - just the..sweetness, I guess, in their understanding of each other, how the "beast" just needed Lucas so much, how he was so soft for Lucas, so kind and protective of him....Gah! And in turn, how tenderly Lucas cared for the Beast and took care of him in so many ways. Their story, these MCs, and their love definitely got to me. Also - the spice was super hot!! This book is on the shorter side and fast paced too - be prepared for a wild ride! Loved it and can't wait for the next book.
