Publisher's summary

From New York Times and USA Today best seller Vi Keeland comes a steamy new romance novel.

The rules:

  • No dating.
  • No sex outside of the game.
  • No disclosing the terms of the contract.

Rules were made to be broken, right?

Eight weeks ago I signed a contract. It seemed like a good idea at the time: a handsome bachelor, luxury accommodations, and a chance to win a prize my family desperately needed. There were some rules, though - lots of them actually. I had to follow the script and avoid dating, sex, or disclosing the terms of the deal. After my self-imposed moratorium on men last year, it wouldn't be hard to live up to my end of the bargain...or so I thought. Then I realized the deal I'd made was with the devil...and I was in love with his dirty-talking brother.

Author's note - Throb is a full-length standalone audiobook. Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for listeners under the age of 18.

Awesome story!

Any additional comments?

I read Beat a few months ago and I totally loved it. Loved Vi Keeland’s writing style, loved the story line and Oh. My. God. Loved obsessively Flynn Beckham. So I decided to read/listen to the first book of the series and I’m so happy I did it. Vi Keeland has definitely a style, she writes plots very real, very down to earth, not at all Perfect man + Perfect woman = Perfect love story. Throb is a story of a girl, Kate, who needs to win a reality show (something like The Bachelor) in order to take care of her family (with the money of the winning price, of course) but her simple plan is messed with the presence of Cooper, a very bossy, sexy and super cool guy who wins her heart before the guy in the reality show, who happens to be FLYNN BECKHAM!

So, the plot of this book is great, well written, very interesting, although it was a little fast paced. The characters were very great developed, some were so easy to love and other were so easy to hate. Kate and Cooper were so easy to love. Kate was strong, determined, intelligent and very funny. Cooper on the other hand was serious, straightforward, dominant, bossy and had a stamina just like how I like it in my book boyfriends. They both are so selfless people ready to do anything for the people they love. I was so afraid I wasn't going to like Flynn in this book, because he was the bachelor but I was so wrong. Thank god all his awesome sweet personality was well defined in this book and fully developed in Beat. I won’t mention the characters I hated, but please let me know when you read this book who did you hate and we’ll discuss how to cut his balls off.

Did I mention I loved reading more of Flynn? *sigh* and his lyrics? He’s so amazing! I’m so in love!

Sacrifice the past, give me today.
Walk to me, don’t walk away
Hear the music, my words are a plea
Open your heart and let love sing.

Sadly, the narration of Molly Glenmore wasn’t that great. I had to repeat chapters like three times because I couldn't connect with her performance, and her male voices were awful. Thank god Sebastian York did Cooper’s POV, otherwise I wouldn't have finished the audiobook.

My rating:

Story: 5 throb stars
Audiobook Performance: 3 stars all for Sebastian York

SHE BROKE EVERY RULE WITH HIM..... THE LUCKY LUCKY WOMAN

As this new series called Life On Stage starts Kate wasn't interested in the fame or the chance of a romance with Flynn, the sweet, sexy, tattooed, long-haired Rocker, when she entered the Reality Show Throb - no, she was doing it for selfless reasons to help her family. She really liked Flynn and the sparks were there initially but shortly into starting the show she met Connor in her downtime away from the Show and was instantly drawn to the handsome, charismatic, hot, 29 year old Alpha man. Flirty banter followed but she had to reject him because of the damn rules but he never gave up. She had no idea who he was but she was insanely drawn to Connor, and he to her, the sexual sparks ignited then she found out he was the Tycoon owner of the Production Company heavily linked with the Show and half brother to the slimeball that was currently producing Throb and the slimeball brother was manipulating and calling all the shots.

There were rules of no dating, no sex outside of the Show and no disclosing the terms during the taping of the Show..... but she went ahead and heatedly broke all of the rules with Connor anyway - some happily, eagerly and willingly but some reluctantly because she always felt bad, emotionally split and torn as to what the right thing to do was. She liked Flynn and he was showing all the signs of being deeply into her but her heart belonged to Connor however, she still needed to win the show for the prize money even though Connor was possessive, dominant, jealous, eager and begging for her to give it all up and let him take care of everything. Then the decision was suddenly and viciously taken out of their hands when..... oh no, nuh-uh I'm not going to give it away but I will say that tears, heartbreak, shattered glasses and broken dreams followed.

Dual POV's, Connor, Kate and Flynn were such likeable selfless characters, the bitter-sweet story held my attention from the start and the dual narration was great. There was a lot of sex and Connor had a dirty mouth but he was such a loveable Hero who could have any woman he wanted..... except Kate and she was the only one he ever wanted.

Worth a credit? I initially had a few doubts about this listen based around The Batchelor type Reality Show but it turned out to be so so much more...... a sweet, hot, romantic, frustrating, entertaining, enjoyable and totally creditworthy listen. And the gorgeous Flynn? well he'll get to star in his own book Beat - hopefully following very soon...... pretty please Audible.

An enjoyable listen!

This was definitely a more unique storyline than a lot of contemporary romances. Before this book, reality TV and the way people consume it, really irritated me. Now, after this book pointed out some of the more sordid details about how reality TV is produced; it disgusts me. Just the fact that reality television has gained its popularity and dedicated fan base by exploiting the ugliest sides of human behavior, nauseates me. That being said, there is a sweet compelling romance intertwined in this
Mess of a television train wreck. There is also a reminder of an old adage, “If you love something, set it free, if it.....” This Hero puts his Heroine’s happiness over his own and I was
Very touched by his selflessness.
If you’re looking for a sweet and salty romance that include a lot of angst, hit download and get ready for a story of a romance that doesn’t exact Its pound of flesh! Enjoy!!!!!!

Fire for the Ears!

4.25 Stars

Not the type of forbidden I was looking for but an interesting take to say the least. Kate and Cooper's sexual chemistry jumped off the page and the sexy time...OH MY MY, straight FIRE! I really enjoyed it but I thought some of the issues that they encountered could have been flushed out more.

Heartbreak or Heartthrob??

5 stars all the way for me. This was a fun, easy listen. The characters had background stories that did not consume the book, but made for an understanding of decisions they made. A good twist on the overabundance of "Reality TV", confirming my steadfast rejection of that style of entertainment.

Ignore the cover of this book, ok? It's about Kate, her life, her responsibilities, her decisions. Her character was read by Molly Glenmore whose voice is raspy. Voices are complicated and she has received plenty of criticism, but I was not turned off because of it. I thought it sounded real, unaffected and full of emotion. It sounds appropriate for her age.

Sebastian York is his usual, low, creamy, smoky voice that makes hearts flutter and bodies heat up, which is exactly why he is so busy reading all of these smexy books. And who is this guy anyway? Is he even real? If he is, I'd love an evening with him just listening to him read my phone book...in the dark...

Anyway, liked the book.

Throb was unexpectedly good

I wasn’t sure of the premise. I tend to steer clear of books involving Hollywood characters. Cooper and Kate were down to earth people you could relate too. Vi has a way with words that make you feel the emotions of her characters and as an audible book this still came through, not impacted by the narrators.

annoying narrator, ok story

I couldn't finish it. It was frustrating to have the characters make multiple impractical, unlikely and awful choices. I usually like Vi Keeland. The female narrator had a terrible vocal fry and an annoying ending to every sentence. I'd recommend choosing another book by Keeland over this one
