Publisher's summary

Monsters—shadows, gills, wings, and more. The things I fear crave me…and they’ve been here the whole time. Hiding, waiting, and wanting. Lurking, sneaking, and watching.

Traveling the country camping was supposed to be an escape from the strange and unusual that clings to my family. My family’s calling to fame terrifies me. The ghosts, the hauntings, the supernatural—I want nothing to do with it.

Too bad it wants everything to do with me.

Where did the trip first go wrong? Maybe when an old friend with dark secrets insisted on coming—a rising rock star whose fame is now putting me in the limelight.

Then there is the West Virginia local legend. A monster myth of cryptid fame. A campfire story. But there are those that believe—that are willing to do whatever it takes to capture the monster in the mountains.

Maybe even use humans as bait.

Maybe even use me.

Author Note: This is a monster romance with multiple love interests the female lead will not choose between. There are mature themes including spice, significant violence, language, and etc. This is book one of a series and will be slow build, meaning not all love interests are introduced in book one.

Great!

Let me start by saying the narration was great. I loved how the narrator used an accent. The dark and twisty aspect of the story was captivating. I loved Beatrix and Caspian so much!!

Interesting start to a series

So I have to say this was an interesting start to a series. It had me intrigued from the beginning and kept my attention all the way through. I liked the female narrator and one of the narrators, I didn't care for his voice, it sounded a little high-pitched, I don't know. It took me out of the story when I heard his voice. Other than that I did enjoy it and I really need to know what happens after that cliffhanger.

Pretty great!

Pretty good beginning to this series. The narration was awesome and I had a good chuckle with the country twang accent from one of the characters. The narrators definitely brought the characters to life. I love a good monster read and this one is definitely promising.

Loved it

If you like monster romance and RH you will love this! This book had a slow start but once it got going I was sucked in and couldn't put it down. I'm immediately starting book 2 because this ends on a cliffhanger and I can't wait to see where it goes!

Great Monsters RH

Ava wants freedom from the supernatural, So she is excited when she gets the chance to be a photographer for camping company. But she doesn't go alone her stepbrother Caspian comes along. At their first stop the monsters she trying to get away from, finds her here. No matter what she did, she couldn't outrun them. As many twists and turns are throughout, nothing prepared you for the cliffhanger. Michelle Price, Gregory Salinas and Jay Alder did a remarkable job being these characters to life.

Run & Hide

Run & Hide is the first book in the Myths & Monsters series. This author is new to me and I really enjoyed this book, so I'll read more by this author in the future. This book was a perfectly spooky read for October!

Ava's family is into the paranormal. Ava however isn't on board with her family's beliefs. When she enters a haunted house with them, something happens. She decides to go camping.

Things happen while camping, and she isn't sure what to believe. Feelings start to evolve for her friend Caspian, but Caspian has his own secrets.

This book was so good. The creepy, chilling things that happened. People looking for Mothman. Caspian's secret coming out. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book and to see if Ava gets her happy ending.

Unhinged Fluffy Monster Romance

5/5 ⭐
4/5 🌶️
5/5 🎧

I am 110% obsessed with anything Beatrix writes. This book was so off the wall, weird and fantastic. I knew a few things going in and to be honest, I wish I knew less because I was kinda confused on some aspects (for instance I thought the why choose was the whole band and it took me just about half the book, maybe longer to figure out this wasn't the case lol) and going in blind would have been so much more fun. (So maybe stop here and just go grab it!)

The audio book was amazing. I thought the guy who voices Caspian did such an incredible job and I loved Michelle and the other guy too. I wish they would make a note on who was who, but honestly Mothman was great as well.

I am loving the MMCs so far. Caspian is so sweet and seggsy, those tentacles are H O T. He fell so hard for Ava and I adore him for it. Mothman is wild. Just his getup had me C A C K L I N G, I'm in love. And his protective slash stalker streak for Ava was amazing too. Beatrix writes some of the most amazing and unhinged MCs and I am so here for it.

This was quite the setup for this series and we're not even done introducing the rest of the love interests yet. I'm so excited to see who else is joining Ava, Caspian and Mothman and how the band fairs while along for the ride. I'm heading straight to Hide + Seek and can't wait to see what happens.

Loved it

Poor Ava, scared of shadows, things that go bump in the night, but her stepbrother is there to protect her.
Should they be afraid of his band mates or the red eyed creature or the things they cannot see.
I am new to author Beatrix Hollow and so far loving her story telling, on to book 2 😁

What a monster-y start!

I went into this one blind besides it had monsters and I am enjoying how different these monsters are! I am still trying to visualize what Caspian is, but every time the author describes something else about him and his real form I am intrigued more haha. Mothman (please say we get his name at some point haha) is very odd and is like playing dumb with our MC for some reason. I really liked Caspian but kinda on the fence when it comes to Mothman. I mean some of his POVs didnt make me connect with him, not sure why. Maybe his arrogance or random childish/boyish behavior when he is hundreds of years old? I do like that he continues to be there for her and knocks Caspian down a peg. BTW the appendages from these creatures are pretty 🔥🔥🔥. Like the thing that a butterfly has almost that Mothman has or the weird thing Caspian has going on that needs more prep for Ava than normal haha, if you know what I mean. I won't give too much away, you need to be shocked like we all have been!

In terms of the story, it was kinda chopping at some points, I would give the story a 3.5 but I rounded it up because of the level of detail and complexity we were getting. I think the relationship between Caspian and Ava was odd, I mean some things made total sense but there were times where it felt like they were different characters. Like Ava was a BA early on and then randomly would be TSTL and a lovesick puppy. I don't know some things just felt off but overall I still liked it. I enjoyed the ghost and weird stuff going on in the house and her subsequent visions. I hope we get more in book 2 because that felt a little discombobulated in this one. I was shocked with the service and her sending those texts to her family they weren't freaking out on her (maybe we get that in book 2)? Why did the hunters kill some of the people, it didnt make a whole lot of sense. Again there is a lot of potential here and I really like the world this author is building and how different she is making the monsters. Already on book 2, just think the execution wasn't the best (again some things may get smoothed out in the next 2 books).

Ok narration for me was sometimes hit or miss and that is a little shocking with these narrators because I do enjoy their other work (especially Salinas and Price). I couldnt figure out Caspian's ethnicity until they specifically said he was from Spain because the accent was so confusing. I think that hurt the audio part at some points, took me out of the story because it wasn't consistent. I also think Mothman wasn't the best in terms of narration, some things were overdone and inflections seemed a little off on his POV chapters (I think that is why I didnt connect with him as much). 3.5 for narration but again rounding up to 4 because they did a good job despite the couple things I mentioned and it didnt make me not want to listen to the rest. Already devouring book 2 and will be on book 3 soon after.
