Erratic Erotica

This book is an odd duck and one of my biggest issues with it is that the author doesn't seem to know exactly what kind of story he is publishing.

At the very end in the author's notes, the writer of this mentions that he views none of his texts as being final even past the first publication date.

One can see that since several of his older works have been reissued under new names.

My response to that is, What the hell? Did I just buy a rough draft? It certainly seems so.

Look, there are some touching scenes in this book, but there's a lot of barbarically primitive writing. There are moments of scintillating erotica, but I'm not sure it's worth the price.

And just between you and me, there are episodes of violence used as foreplay and erotic enhancement that seem like they've been dropped in from another story.

In the end, we are led to believe that the emotionally fractured main character is able to heal through the love of his hanger-on. That's very much an unearned turn of events.

My two cents? Since we are never shown any of the emotional anchoring that is holding the so-called relationship together, I give them about nine months before the whole thing burns to the ground.

There are interesting storylines that pop up in this book that I wish were explored and fleshed out. The writer does have an imagination. I just wish he had the discipline to work like heck to create a focused finished product and in doing so show his respect to those who purchase his work.
