宮城県塩釜港のほど近くに住む長谷川ゆきさんは、長年絵本の読み聞かせの活動を行いながら、自宅で絵本文庫を開く準備を進め、2011年の夏には開館できる予定だった。 しかし、同年3月11日、長谷川さんの自宅も津波に襲われた。 1階にあった家財、ピアノ、そして30年以上かけてコツコツ集めてきた約800冊の絵本を失った。 長谷川さんの喪失感は大きく、しばらくの間は呆然としていたが、避難所での暮らしを送るなかで、請われて絵本の読み聞かせを再開し、活動を続けるうちに自分を取り戻すことができたという。 念願だった絵本文庫の夢も、全国から届けられた絵本によって後押しされ、2012年11月に「うみべの文庫」として実現。今では子どもも大人も集う憩いの場となっている。 「絵本に支えられてもらった」という長谷川ゆきさんが読むのは、『ごんぎつね』で知られる新美南吉の『里の春、山の春』。日本語の美しさが伝わる長谷川さんの大好きな作品のひとつ。2016年3月の空気感と共に。 （2016年3月10日 うみべの文庫で収録） ※本コンテンツは、「サンプルを聴く」ボタンの再生で作品全編を聴くことができます。
