Nikita Ravenov

It was supposed to be a simple job: Tail the Italian for an evening, see if he was up to anything shady, and report back to the Bratva.

But I didn’t expect him to go into gay bars. Is someone trying to out me to the Bratva? Am I being set up?

And what the hell do I do, now that my mark knows I’m following him?

Lorenzo Ferrari

It’s insulting, really. My organization wants to do business with the Russians, but they’re putting tails on me? That’s just bad manners.

But when that tail gets a beating from his own and for failing to tell them everything he knows about me, I know something is up.

Now, we’re both in way over our heads. Our only hope is working together.

And even then, I’m not so sure we’re getting out of this.

Content warnings include drug use, active addiction, graphic violence, suicidal ideation, domestic abuse.

A standalone MM thriller novel about two members of opposing mafia groups, who end up working together when they find themselves in a pickle. They first meet with Nikita tailing Lorenzo to get dirt on him before a business deal with Nikita’s boss, but when Lorenzo confronts him in the bathroom of a gay club for clearly tailing him, Nikita decides to seduce him to throw him off the scent that Nikita followed him.

More serious than the other collaborations I’ve read or listened to by this duo, I prefer the funnier Hitman vs Hitman but this was great as well. The lead characters have chemistry, and are interesting and likable. there’s some humor and banter, and plenty of twists and turns. A couple mature scenes, also has active addiction and drug use as a significant story.

Listened on Audible, Michael Ferraiuolo did a fantastic job narrating as always.

Michael Ferraiuolo always knocks it out of the park. This is my 2nd LA Whit book and I’m quickly becoming obsessed. Both authors absolutely perfected the character dynamics in my opinion. Chemistry between characters (or the lack thereof) makes or breaks a book for me. Easy companionship, especially so early in a relationship, can be frustrating, but it just seems so natural between Nikita and Lorenzo that I seriously didn’t have any timeline complaints.

You Had One Job isn’t a tearjerker necessarily but pay attention to the TWs! I’ve never struggled with addiction myself but I can see how this aspect would be triggering. Addiction isn’t just a single mention and move on; MC openly discusses their addiction and is an active user for the entire book (minus the epilogue).

Insta Love. Great narration, Michael Ferraiuolo always brings life and character to the books he performs. The writing is outstanding and created a story worth listening to. It's a really good book and well worth the credit and your time to listen.

Really good

LA Witt plus Michael Ferraiuolo is a win no matter how you look at it. I was hooked into the story more than I thought I’d be. I worried it may be too dark with all the heavy warnings and overall mob content, but I was wrong. It was fun, engaging, sweet, funny, and full of action. Turns out, I’m a sucker for Ferraiuolo’s Russian accent, as well.

Absolutely lovely
