Story
My whole life, I thought dragons were majestic, wise, and fearsome creatures. Not to mention fictional. It's been less than a year since that last belief was debunked. Dragons are real, they're now living among us, and I'm the lucky realtor who gets to sell a house to their leader. I just have to impress his representative first. No problem—I'm a professional. Except the dragon rep turns out to be the guy I hooked up with last night, and he's fast disproving everything I believed about dragons. Unless "wise" actually means "addicted to glitter."

I’m rather used to the crazy cases, because let’s face it, most cops can handle the run-of-the-mill with their eyes closed. I’m only called in when the situation is weird or they need to solve the case fast. This case is a little of both. Someone’s attacking women as they get off of work, hitting them in the back of the head. What started as a case of battery has steadily built up to homicide. With three murders, six victims, and no leads, the Clarksville PD are desperate to catch the assailant.

Smart men never dabble with demons. I never claimed to be smart, but at least, I’m powerful enough to control them. When I bound Havoc to me nearly 300 years ago, I never realized how difficult he’d make my life, although “accidentally” lighting him on fire every now and then does bring a smile to my face. Havoc is handsome, mysterious, and somehow, my closest companion, even if we don’t always get along.

Being a somewhat awkward introvert working as a pathologist at the Hackney Public Mortuary suits him just fine. That is, until a freak accident with a rogue ice cube and suddenly he can see ghosts. No longer content to just lie on the table and let him figure out how they died, they're now peering over his shoulder critiquing his work and confessing their most lascivious sins before skipping off merrily into the afterlife.

Getting into the vampire-only detective unit was the easy part. What’s going to be more difficult is dealing with my new partner - an ancient vampire who keeps threatening to eat me. The unit has never had a human in it. Marcus - or, as I like to call him: Fangy McFangface - would really prefer to keep it that way. He’s grumpy, short-tempered, and broody, but I have a way with words, and I know he’s starting to like me, even if he swears he’s not.

Though I was born with the ability to see the dead, I struggled with it until my brother was killed and his ghost was left behind. Now, I’m determined to figure out who is responsible for his death…the problem is that Detective Maddox Booker, the one working the case, is a grumpy and stubborn man who wants nothing to do with me and definitely doesn’t believe in ghosts. It doesn’t help that I keep finding myself looking ridiculous in front of the detective, thanks to interfering ghosts who enjoy laughing at my expense.

Samuel has one goal in life: fix his broken core. What does he not want? A bossy, overprotective, possessive, teasing dragon sticking his nose in business that is not his. Even if he is sexy and supports Samuel on his quest to find the lost Sousa Mage Clan. Utterly beside the point. He does not need a dragon boyfriend. (Un)fortunately, Dimitri disagrees.

Publisher's summary
When you can talk to ghosts, things are bound to get spirited.
The ghosts have been there since before I can remember. When I was a kid, they doted on me, but as I got older, they got more demanding. I’ve spent my whole life seeing and talking to dead people and trying to pretend I’m not, because the living just don’t understand. Nobody wants to be around the freak who claims to see ghosts. Until I go to Mannix Estate.
Once a private country home, then a posh hotel, it was closed after a suspicious incident but is now an immersive historic experience. It’s also haunted AF, and everyone knows it. Finally, I’ve found a place to work and live where I can be useful. Where I’m actually wanted.
There are only two problems: I spent a hot, sweaty, satisfying night with Ewan the blacksmith before I knew we’d have to work together. Everyone knows sex with colleagues is a bad idea, right? Even if he’s the world’s most ripped cinnamon roll.
Plus, the ghosts are keeping secrets. There’s something going on that’s not normal, even for a haunted estate. And, I suspect that when the truth comes out, I’m the one who’ll have to deal with it…and it won’t be good.

I enjoyed listening to this one. I love Josh and Ewan and the rest of the family. The ghosts are hilarious and quite interesting. I laughed and swooned out loud with Josh and Ewan’s budding romance. Pillaged and Plundered had me cackling hard.

So sweet and spooky
In this one, we have a young man who has been able to see ghosts his whole life and was suffering for it. He comes across a job in a haunted hotel/b&b and it's perfect for him.
The night before his job interview he hooks up with a nice guy. Come to find out, that guy works at the same place.
I loved the ghost parts as much as the romance here. I thought it was well done.
This is a series so while the main MCs got their HFN, the ghost situation is still ongoing.
The narration was perfect and Nick Russo always does a good job.

Wow. I read it first, the audiobook was better!
I was already in love with this story. The characters are wonderful and the plot is unique and engaging. I tried the audiobook before the sequel came out and I’m beyond thrilled I did!
The narrator is excellent and he brought the characters to life. I’m going to listen to the audiobook for the sequel now instead of reading the actual book. I can’t wait!
Highly recommend. If you want hilarious ghosts, dynamic main characters, sweet romance with a HEA and a demon that needs to be vanquished — this is the story for you!

Spirited Situation
⏤ 5 Maple Leaf Audio Review ⏤
"𝒀𝒐𝒖'𝒓𝒆 𝒗𝒂𝒍𝒖𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆. 𝑰'𝒗𝒆 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒎𝒆𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒗𝒂𝒍𝒖𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆, 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒐𝒖𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖. 𝒀𝒐𝒖 𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝒖𝒑 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅."
Spirited Situation (Ghostly Guardians 1) by Louisa Masters is a paranormal, mm, one-night stand, workplace romance told in the dual first-person point-of-view.
When you can talk to ghosts, it makes your life a little complicated. A job at a haunted mansion, a one-night stand turned co-worker who likes your quirks may just be the new life Josh has been looking for.
Josh and Ewan are so adorable. I loved their connection and the chemistry they have. The banter between all of the characters, living and dead, had me laughing out loud. I am interested to see where this series goes.
Nick J. Russo did a great job narrating Josh and Ewan’s story making it so much more than it was when I read the book and he made a single narration feel like a duet narration.

Casual and Cute
I have listened to this book a couple of times. I don't find anything wrong with it. There are instances where I think it could do a lot more, but ultimately it's not a deep book. It's cute and fluffy with a little intrigue. It's cheery and uplifting in general--a slice of life that's more sweet than substance. Not a bad thing, at all. Just not what I would find truly gush worthy.
The relationship in this book isn't very complicated. Josh is definitely the more insecure, but it's not really anything you dig into or worry about in terms of resolution. He's insecure, he gets a boyfriend, they fall in love way too easily, and he gets generally better. Ewan and Josh also get the added benefit of being the first pair in a series of stories where even when you're not focused on their relationship, it is still existing and growing in the background of the other books. So they feel like they are written more as that early aspect of a relationship because the author already has it all in her head that the relationship is continuing in the other books she had plotted out at the time of writing the first.
All the characters stand out as their own people. There are a fairly large number in the main cast, and it does only grow more, but there is a good balance of where to focus and who to utilize in specific ways. It feels like the world, story, and characters are all well thought out and everything flows well. It's not really intricate, but it is definitely a nice feel good story you can just sit back an enjoy.

I love this book (and series). I've read the books already, and I am enjoying them just as much now. I'm a huge paranormal fan, and these books have that as well as the romance I want. Ewan and Josh are very cute together. I really enjoy the other characters as well, and I'm excited to listen to their stories.

Bored to dnf
I hoped that this book would be great because the blurb was interesting and Nick J Russo is a super narrator. This story started out okay however, halfway through things just became too ridiculous for my liking. I felt like the writer had no clear plot, just a great premise, and then she made it up as she went. I got bored with the word salad in the middle of this book and decided to dnf.

FANTASTIC, I love a ghost book
🎧 Narrated Nick J Russo 💞
A fantastic narrative from Mr Masters with all the All The characters. I had to laugh at the ghosts and Josh troubles.
A fantastic start to the book as Ewin and Josh with a hot hookup.
Josh is in town for a new job interview at the estate to get our of the city and her ghosts. Ewin was the Blacksmith.
Laugh out louds are big in this and I loved Josh and the many ghosts he encountered.
The Estate has a history with deaths but that the tip of the ice burg as the ghost tells more about things.
Oh God I cracked up when they are both drunk and their See's are the word of the day. lol

loved it!
This is my 2nd book from this author and just like the 1st one, I loved it, it has a bit if everything, drama, sweetness, hotness, low angst, and of course lots of laughs (I laughed out loud, often). Can't wait to start the next book in this series.
Nick J Russo was amazing as well! love his narrations.

I live a simple, small-town life. Helping with the family restaurant, my side gig as a ride-share driver, hanging with my best friend, and making the most of the extra time with my ghost grandma. The only exciting thing to happen to me in the past year was when Gabe moved to town—too bad Nonna scared him off. It’s hard to impress a guy when your dead grandmother calls him the devil.

The truth is, I'm an admin assistant who applied for a job that sounded kind of interesting and ended up working for the Community of Species Government. I'm the only human in the office, and basically I ride herd on a team of rambunctious shifters and demons. I also spend a lot of time avoiding Gideon Bailey, the demon I had a one-night stand with right before I took this job. He hates me, and I really want to avoid being murdered. But I've been offered a promotion that will mean working with him, so we're both going to have to get over it

I’m not anti-relationship, but my life is good right now, and love is not a priority. Too bad my grandmother disagrees. People say she’s scary, and sure, some of her enemies went missing under mysterious circumstances, but she loves me and wants the best for me…which right now, is marriage.
