Publisher's summary

As we edge toward the 75th anniversary of Osamu Dazai's death, much of his masterful prose remains surprisingly unknown to most English-language audiences. This observational vignette written by a youthful Dazai offers a lovely introduction to the introspective master widely known and loved in Japan.

Translated in Japan by Reiko Seri and Doc Kane of Maplopo, this semi-autobiographical account should serve as a nice introduction to those unaware of Dazai's genius. For those well aware of his talents (and possibly the several decades-old translation of this particular work) this updated translation in English provides a fresh look at this masterful vignette.

It is the translator talking about the author which I would say 70% of this book. Not worse purchasing at all.

It is less than a chapter of a regular book.
It does not matter if the body of the work is good or bad, it is not worse one credit . Moreover
The translation is repeated by reading in original Japanese . Maybe the body of the author’s work is less than 3 minutes. I will certainly return this book. If this was a collection of Dazai’s work it may be worse purchasing . But not this one- ridiculous.

thanks so much...

This very short story (around 5 minutes) holds special meaning for us despite its length... Dazai's ability to connect with the reader so deeply (in so few pages), is what makes this story so appealing, Yet, while the story stands alone (as it does in its decades old translation), because of its brevity we decided to include our introductions from the print version for listeners. It is our hope in doing so, that we're able to show our respect for the author, and his writing on the whole.

It's quite difficult to weave such a powerful tale in only a few pages, and Dazai does it well. We hope we've honored that effort with this audiobook version of "Wish Fulfilled." Here is the audiobook chapter breakdown:

Opening Credits: 00:18
Chapter 1 (Dedication): 00:11
Chapter 2 (Introduction from Reiko): 3:04
Chapter 3 (Introduction from Doc): 2:43
Chapter 4 (Main Story: "Wish Fulfilled"): 5:13
Chapter 5 (Japanese Reading of "Wish Fulfilled" 『満願』*bonus track): 5:35
End Credits: 00:10

Many thanks,
Team Maplopo

The story itself is only 3 minutes.

The preface is even longer than the story itself. It is a disgrace to deceive the readers in this way.
