A Spark Glows In The Ashes - And It's Ready To Ignite.

Burned out and desperate for change, Izzy has just quit her job and retreated to her late parents' summer cabin, hoping to rediscover her former self. Instead, she tumbles unexpectedly into the mysterious realm of the Fae - straight into the path of the enigmatic Caleb – a hot, brooding stranger who refuses to let her out of his sight.

If Izzy ever hopes to return home, she has no choice but to follow him into Skarvindar, and the fortress of the ruthless Queen Kalia, who sees more in Izzy than just a lost mortal.

While frantically searching for a way back, Izzy becomes entangled in a deadly game of power where her life is at stake.

But within her, a fire stirs, poised to become an inferno - one that might save her, or reduce everything to ashes.

Meanwhile, a dangerous attraction ignites between her and Caleb, but their connection harbours secrets that could destroy them both.

Izzy faces a crucial decision: will she use her newly discovered strength to return to the person she once was - or to become the person she could be?

Did not expect to love this that much?? The story pulled me in right away and the characters actually felt real. The tension between them was sooo good 🔥 and the narrator absolutely nailed it. Already need the next one pls 😭 ( the end ?!omg)

There’s a point in Ashen Crown where it stops being a story and hits you right in the chest. The writing feels alive. Every scene burns with tension, every line lands exactly where it should.
It’s lush, haunting, and the kind of story that settles under your skin. The prose has rhythm and restraint, full of those rare moments that make you stop, replay, and feel it all over again.

Oh. My. Heart. This audiobook absolutely wrecked me, but in the best way.
Imogen Wilde’s narration is chef’s kiss! You feel every heartbeat, every spark. :)
Izzy is that perfect mix of fierce and vulnerable. Caleb has total broody-hot-guy energy with layers you just know are going to ruin you.
The world of Aveniyum feels massive and magical. And DO NOT GET ME STARTED ON THE ENDING!! This built up to an incredible finale and now I'm feral for Book 2.
If you’re into Fourth Wing or ACOTAR, add this to your queue. I listened straight through and even sat in my car for the last 45 minutes to devour that ending.
Highly, highly recommend. ❤️‍🔥

The Slow Burn, the Fae, the FEELS 🔥

The beginning seemed rushed (?) - and a little unbelievable that poof in a new land and everyone uses the same language, cultural references etc. But, I did like the adventure and it was an easy listen. Will listen to the sequel whenever it comes out but won’t be gripping my chair until it does. Reads YA, not a lot of depth and no hidden meanings but good.

Easy listen , great narrator

The main female character is both clueless and argumentative (whiny, actually), an off-putting combination. Many of her “arguments” are boring whine-fests that depict her as immature. It’s hard to care about such a character, and it left me wondering how the author and her editor could possibly think that this adds to the plot or character development. Did they think that complaining depicts her not as whiny, but as feisty? If so, it didn’t work for this reader, especially given the character’s embarrassing assertion that she had the situation with a kelpie under control. It seems to me that the author opted to bore the readers silly instead of thinking up ways to make the plot more interesting (there’s a thought!) or other ways to create tension between her and the lead male character.
To be fair, I chose to cut my losses and stopped listening well before the end. Perhaps it got a lot better later on, though I’m skeptical about that because, as noted, the female lead’s endless complaining seems to be how the author decided to generate animus between the two leads.

Very tedious

With all the stuff different fae tried to teach the mfc , she turned around and did the opposite. She would make situations sound so urgent and extreme, but kept going along with them. To me, the mfc was just as dense as the MMC. If she has “mega fire” why wouldn’t she just have burned the Queen. And wtf was that weird crap with the Queen and the mirror. I’d rather have elaborated on that instead of a lot of the other scenes (including the boudoir scene-we could’ve skipped that.)

This book has a lot going on with it. I felt the storyline a bit predictable and annoying all at once. Why is this going to be a series? Once the mfc flamed on 🔥, done deal. What’s the hold up. I’m mostly irritated this book has siblings.

Man this was rough
