Even Better With a Reader

I own the Kindle version of this book, and learned quite a bit from it. Hearing the words through an outstanding narrator makes it an even better, easier to follow experience. A hopeful, helpful book made even better by L. Pedersen.

Great book to challenge how we look at our health

Listened as an audio book, enjoyed the book greatly. Very well narrated by Lauren Pedersen.

It touches on underlying causes for diseases that are more and more common in today's world. Everything from trauma (physical, emotional) to changes in our food supply is contributing to our overall health in real ways. The author explains how these can cause a chain of reactions in our body, with real examples that are medically proven. Modern medicine often treats the symptoms without asking questions or testing to find the root cause.

At times can seem almost overwhelming (soaps, lotions, foods, food containers) but as the author tells her patients: Be Curious. She does not take a hard line with cutting everything from your life, just be open minded to all the sources that can contribute to our health, how your body reacts, and how to get it back in balance

Would recommend for anyone battling mental health issues, autoimmune disorders and everyone else just wanting to learn more about functional medicine and living our healthiest life - and this book can help you advocate for your own health.

Great Book

This book is a top shelf resource for sure. It answered many questions that I have posed in conversation with my PCP wherein I came away with no good answers. I purchased the audio book, and the narrator, Lauren Pedersen, was superb.
I recommend this book to anyone struggling to know why they are feeling like they do. It’s not always depression, and Dr Stein gives the reader the tools to dig deep to find answers.

Real Help to Overcome Depression

This book truly opened my eyes. It challenges the conventional perspective on depression and presents a refreshing and optimistic outlook on mental health. Its profound insights, compassionate approach, and expert guidance make it an essential read for anyone looking to comprehend AND CURE their symptoms of depression.

She draws from her extensive experience as a psychiatrist, combines scientific research, clinical expertise, and real-life stories to create a comprehensive guide that is both informative and relatable.

One of the book's greatest strengths lies in Dr. Stein´s ability to encourage readers to question traditional diagnostic criteria and to explore alternative explanations for their emotional struggles. She conducts a comprehensive review of all possible physical root causes that could be behind the debilitating symptoms of depression that a person may be experiencing. By going into these root causes and encouraging you to consider solutions that you hadn't previously thought of, she offers genuine hope for recovery from depression.

A different approach to treating depression

This book has a wealth of information, not for the casual reader. Many of her conclusions seemed logical and well researched offering many references to back up her claims. It is well worth a second or third reading to process all the information.

Great narration

While this was a lot of information it was very well delivered with clear dictation and a pleasant voice that keeps the listening ear engaged. It was very helpful to understand how many different outside influences as well as internal things can affect our moods and outlook.
