Publisher's summary

Against all odds, Althea Zoltaire emerged from her trials as a champion. Now, she must train even harder and prepare herself to become a true warrior of Thezmarr.

But Thea’s world is turned upside down as she struggles to navigate her newfound magic and uncover the secrets of her past. Slowly, she begins to untangle the truth about her family, her powers, and the evil that threatens to engulf the kingdom.

When Wilder Hawthorne returns to be her official mentor, everything changes. Dark forces are gathering, and he will stop at nothing to prepare her for the challenges to come, even if it means breaking her.

As war looms and their quest for answers leads master and apprentice deeper into danger, the undeniable connection between them intensifies—defying all odds, but also threatening to tear them apart.

With secrets unravelling and evil closing in, Thea and Wilder fight to save the world and each other. The fate of the realms rests in their hands. Will they emerge victorious, or will the darkness consume them both?

Full of action, adventure, and steamy romance, Vows & Ruins is the second book in the spellbinding epic romantic fantasy series The Legends of Thezmarr.

Guardians of Thezzmer

Lots of action; great story!! Characters well developed but not a litany of details to bog things down, but enough to build characters and a continuation of the series.

Good overall but overly spicy

Overall, I enjoyed this book but I liked the first book better. I agree with some of the other reviewers who said the amount of spice in this seemed over the top. It just felt like it was thrown in there for the hell of it rather than it being in there because it cohesively flowed with the story line.

Just WOW

Great narration. The book itself is filled with so many emotions, and I loved the entire journey from beginning to ending. Can hardly wait to read book 3.

Emotional Damage

I am still reeling at the turn of events and I enjoyed the amount of spice in this book. It kept me hooked and then totally obliterated my mind at the end and I feel the clenching in my chest along side Althea. Bring on book 3

Better than the first

I really don’t like these narrators, but they are a bit better in this one than the first book. The smut is quantity over quality for sure. But the monsters and the twist is great!

This was a disappointment

This book was really a major disappointment to me. I really enjoyed the first book in the series and was looking forward to jumping back into book 2. Unfortunately, this book was missing so many of the things that made the first book so good.

For one thing, while I have absolutely NO problem with a good sex scene, the only words I can use to describe what happens in this book is just pure unadulterated and nonstop smut. Seriously, I'm totally up for all kinds of stuff, but this just felt like it was thrown in just to throw it in. It actually pulled me out of the story so many times because for one thing, the two MC's (Wilder and Thea) had sex ALL THE TIME, but they also had it at times that made absolutely no sense. And it wasn't just that it was a non stop sex show. They continually had sex at the most inappropriate times and in the most inappropriate places. For example - they had sex on an outside balcony in full view over the field where the army was camped out during a huge battle, they had sex after a fight with the monsters while the rest of their group was trying to find the horses and recover from the horrendous attack - but no, the two of them go away and spend who knows how much time finding a stream and just blatantly not caring about the rest of the group, even though they were loud enough that everyone heard.

Then the entire book was full of, "We can't do this again" - and then they have sex. Then, "From now on we are only friends" - and then they have sex. And "I hate you" - and.....well, you get the picture.....

But even worse than that was that there was no forward progress in the storyline. We really didn't learn anything in this book - and it was NOT a short book. We did not make any progress learning about the girls heritage or anything about their parents other than their names. Why were they left? HOW were they hidden? We didn't find out anything more about the "Daughter of Darkness". We definitely did not get any more information to help us understand WHY the Veil was breaking. What caused it? Why now?

All in all, I ended up skimming over the last 6 or more sex scenes. (and I very rarely EVER skim in a book) and I was very frustrated with the ending. It just didn't fit. Without going into spoilers, all I can say was for loving someone so much, it didn't take much to totally accept another viewpoint without even bothering to ask any questions, or to STOP and just think about whether or not it made sense.

Will I continue? Yes, because I am curious and I really would like these questions answered. But I am truly hoping that the next book has more plot and less filler. One can hope.
