Publisher's Summary

New York Times best-selling author Lynsay Sands brings the heat in this new Argeneau novel, as one woman is rescued by an irresistible immortal....

“Vampires...”

When Raffaele Notte pulls a barely dressed, disoriented woman from the ocean, the last thing he expects is for her to utter that word. The immortal has come to the island resort to help his cousin, but now, it seems, there are rogue vampires dining on unsuspecting tourists. And he soon realizes that not only is Jess a target, she’s also the life mate for whom he’s been waiting....

Vampires are real. Jess would’ve never believed it until she saw them with her own eyes. She knows she has to get off the island, and her gallant rescuer has offered to help. There’s something about Raffaele that’s unlike any man she has ever met, and his touch sends pleasure through her that is beyond all imagining. But when Jess discovers who he really is, will she risk life as she knows it for a chance of forever by his side?

Pretty enjoyable story :)

3.5-4 stars

This was a pretty good story. I did like it but I'm not much on love triangles so that dampened my enjoyment a bit.

Jess is a bartender and counselor while she goes to school. Jess lost her family early and went into the Foster care system. She experienced some bad crap but did eventually get adopted by a couple that loved her and gave her a good home and extended family.

Raffaele is an Architect as well as being in a band and is over 2,000 years old. Raffaeleis also an Immortal, which are humans from the city of Atlantis that have nanobots that give them traits that are similar to the vampires of legend, including their need for blood. Raffaele's cousin had some issues recently and he finds himself on vacation with his cousin to try to get him to relax.

Jess is sucked into a destination wedding for a loved family member and the wedding was fine but Jess also gets sucked into looking after a very nasty cousin. When this cousin drags Jess onto a "pirate ship" for what's supposed to be a "feed the shark" excursion, Jess gets more than she bargained for. Jess quickly realizes that the boat crew are all 'vampires" (aka rouge immortals who drink from people even though they're not supposed to) and for some reason she's having a hard time resisting the Captain when he touches her. Jess freaks about it all and escapes the boat to swim to shore.

The swim back is long and Jess wouldn't have made it if not for Raffaele seeing her and swimming out to save her. Raffaele figures out that Jess is a possible lifemate for him as well as the fact that she had an encounter with some local rouge immortals. Raffaele offers to help her but doesn't tell her everything about himself as she fears immortals and he wants to gain her trust before reveling what he is. Although Jess and Raffaele are a better fit, there is a bit of a love triangle, which I wasn't thrilled about but I thought they handled this one pretty well. In the end, Jess and Raffaele are solidly together and heading towards a HEA.

This was a pretty good story. I liked both Jess and Raffaele and enjoyed seeing them get together. Overall, this was a pretty good story and I would recommend it.

We meet some new characters and they are characters.

I really enjoyed this one and I was surprised. It must be hard to come up with new material after so many books, she keeps giving us new people to care about. I can see several new stories coming out of this one and I can’t wait.

Meh

I waited for this book for it seems like yeare. I feel a little let down. Ever read a book and you didn't like it but you can't really say why? This was one for me.

This book was just ok for me. Parts were annoying. Parts was too wordy. Parts made me smile and laugh. I know it's a good book when I still think about it after it's done. I think this will be forgotten quite easily.

Jess annoyed me a lot. Her inner dialog drove me crazy. Rafaele was a bit better. I seem to like all the male characters Ms. Sands writes.

After reading the reviews on Amazon I seem to be the only one who didn't like it very much.
