Publisher's summary

Adam Mulvaney lives a double life. By day, he’s the spoiled youngest son of an eccentric billionaire. By night, he’s an unrepentant killer, one of seven psychopaths raised to right the wrongs of a justice system that keeps failing.

Noah Holt has spent years dreaming of vengeance for the death of his father, but when faced with his killer, he learns a daunting truth he can’t escape. His father was a monster.

Unable to ignore his own surfacing memories, Noah embarks on a quest to find the truth about his childhood with the help of an unlikely ally: the very person who murdered his father. Since their confrontation, Adam is obsessed with Noah, and he wants to help him uncover the answers he seeks, however dark they may be.

The two share a mutual attraction, but, deep down, Noah knows Adam’s not like other boys. Adam can’t love. He wasn’t born that way. But he refuses to let Noah go, and Noah’s not sure he wants him to.

Can Adam prove to Noah that passion, power, and protection are just as good as love?

Unhinged is a fast-paced roller-coaster ride of a romance with an HEA and no cliff-hangers. It features a dirty-talking, possessive psychopath and a sweet cinnamon roll of a boy with daddy issues and a core of steel. There’s gratuitous violence, very dark humor, enough steam to fog up a hundred car windows, and something a lot like love. This is book one in the Necessary Evils series. Each book follows a different couple.

Underwhelming

I tried reading the Kindle version first and couldn’t get into it so thought I’d give the audiobook a shot. The narrator ruined this for me. Bland, monotone delivery that sounded like he was reading a phone book. I should have stuck with the Kindle version because now I’m turned off to the rest of the series.

Holy sh*t

I have never written a review before but this book is so worth the 2 minutes it takes....

This book has me laughing my ass off at some points. The narrator did an amazing job. The brothers are hilarious murderers. I seriously can't wait for the other books to be on audible.

Looking forward to 6 more stories

This was a Good story not as kinky as I thought it would be but very solid. The narrator (who can make or destroy any authors story) was very talented with his wide range of voices and acting skills; this was worth a credit. Looking forward to more stories about the “brothers”!

Unhinged

Unhinged is the perfect title for this very entertaining, over the top , not your run of the mill romance story.

Considering , the very sensitive and possibly triggering subjects matter at the heart of the plotline, it still somehow comes across as hilariously sexy and snarkily hot AF story.

Liam DiCosimo performance was on point . He is the perfect narrator for this audio book. His voices were distinctive , clear and well modulated. This is my first audio narrated by him.

Loved it. Can't wait to listen to the other books in the series.

story👍narrator 👎

I read the first 3 books in this series and really enjoyed them the idea of psychopaths finding soul mates.... I'm glad I read them before listening to the audible or I wouldn't have made it through book 1. I've enjoyed Liam's narration in other books but imo he was a poor choice with his soft twangy voice for these 7 psychopaths.

Good listen

No where near as dark as I thought it would be. a very good seeking justice vengeance story. For someone who can't feel we sure see Adam fall for Noah. There relationship is a bit twisted and down right dirty but, its love none the less. Hopefully the other killing machine brothers will get stories too. well worth the credit and your time to listen.

Series is very entertaining but needs different narrator. Get Michael Ferraiuolo or Joel Leslie!

Interesting start

Gotta say this book was really interesting. Killer who has a famous family and job is a very different take on mm romance. I dug the intensity of Adam’s affection and a bit of rough play. Looking forward to the rest of the brother’s books.

Very disappointing

I love this book but cannot bear the audible version. The narrator makes the character of Adam sound like a dumb drugged up hippie. I could only listen to one chapter.

Unhinged indeed

When I bought this, I had every intention of reading it right away. It was Everywhere and I wanted in on the hype. I clearly didn't and now I'm kicking myself. Because this was fantastic and so much better than I was expecting. How can a family of sociopathic unalivers be so wholesome? Because the Mulvaney family strike me as exactly that. Adam is well aware of what and who he is. All of the flaws, he has them. Noah is after Adam Because of something that connects their past. I seriously am blown away at how good this way. It was way darker than I thought and you have to check your triggers for this because it's rough. But I'm so excited to read this entire series.

the narration got worse

I liked the premise but missed the back story of Adam. He and Noah did go through the same experiences, yes? Why only talk about Noah?
Adam was very caring, for a psychopath, just a young man talking about being a killer and psychopath.
Further, I deleted a star for the last hour, when the biggest cliché in crime novels takes place.
The narrator started of good. Only Thomas, the billionaire parent, sounded fake. Later, Adam started sounding phony, especially when angry, and the narrative became more and more monotonous.

Fantastic

Adam Mulvaney was adopted by Thomas Mulvaney when he was 6 and like the rest of his adopted brothers he was trained to kill. The night he meets Noah who holds a gun to his head he should be terrified but he’s curious about him and starts to stalk him. I enjoyed the story and the witty banter between the brothers had me laughing and I can’t wait to listen to the rest of the series . Liam DiCosimo narrated perfectly as usual.

Awful, awful narration.

I read this book and knew it would be a great audio. Sadly the narrator was all wrong for me. This guy should have been reading a historical novel not semi erotica, honestly he made it sound sooooo 😴🥱

Possessive

Adam was great to listen to. Delightfully possessive, kind of obsessed with Noah. This introduction to the series makes me want to continue on to listen to all the brother's stories

Worth every cent.

This was fantastic. With such harsh reality topics this could have been a horribly depressing story but instead it was fun and heartwarming while still being quite respectful.
The romance was adorable and the sex was hot and used as much for plot and character development as it was to just have hot sex.
I can not wait for the rest of this serise.

Psychopaths and mayhem, sign me up!

Unhinged is book one in the Necessary Evils series. An MM romance series that follows the seven psychopath Mulvaney brothers and the seven men they want to protect.

Adam is the youngest of the psychopath brothers. After coming face to face with the son of one of his kills everything changes for him.

Noah is sweet and cute. An adorable little cinnamon roll on the outside. But behind closed doors he’s a masochist. Which pairs perfectly with Adam’s possessive need to claim and mark Noah as his.

This series gives off criminal minds vibes with how the team works and handles the job they complete and the nature of the crimes they punish.

There are also kinks galore in this booo including: praise, breeding, spanking, submission and bondage. Which I’m totally here for!

I really enjoyed this read and I’m looking forward to the rest of the Mulvaney brothers Atticus, Aiden, August, Asa & Avi, Archer after Adam’s story.

Instalove romance, would have liked more action!

Noah has spent the last two years tracking down his father’s killer, Adam, the youngest adopted celebrity son of billionaire, Thomas Mulvaney. When Noah confronts Adam, he find that no one is who they seem. I loved the concept of a family of psychopaths dispensing vigilante justice, but I was slightly underwhelmed by this - it’s instalove romance first and foremost with very little action and nearly all the violence is off-page, so not a ‘dark’ romance. While there were some sizzling sex scenes, there is a glaring logical fallacy: psychopaths by definition are callous and unemotional, incapable of love. Yet Adam felt sympathy for Noah, protective of him, got angry with those who hurt Noah, and wanted to be with him forever - it was love in all but name. Adam would be better labelled a sociopath, but was not convincing as either. If you can look past that, it’s an intriguing mystery with serious child abuse themes. I enjoyed Liam DiCosimo’s audio narration, I think he was exactly right for the tone of this story.
