Publisher's summary

What began with a reimagining of Peter Pan and Wendy now twists into a stunning version of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass!

Gwen, Pete, and the others have escaped from Everland. But the safe haven they hoped to find at Alnwick Castle doesn't exist. With the Queen of England on her deathbed, Duchess Alyssa has stepped in to lead, but things have gotten worse as the cure Doc created for the Horologia virus has mutated, accelerating the disease. The only possible solution he can think of is to go back to the virus' origin: an extinct poisonous apple.

Legend has it a tree bearing the apple might be found at the center of a deadly labyrinth hidden deep within Germany. A place that no one in their right mind enters. Leaving Pete in charge of the survivors, Alyssa sets out with only her sword, her wits, and the help of Maddox Hadder, a wild boy who oversees the castle gardens. To get to the center of the maze, she'll be forced to battle monsters more terrifying than her darkest nightmares.

But can anyone truly survive the madness of the maze? And what if there's no apple to be found there?

Takes the magic away

This series takes 3 magical worlds and takes the magic away, leaving behind the sad, sick, and the messed up. I thought it was clever the references and takes on the original stories, but wished they kept the magic and made it a bit less depressing. At this point I continue on merely for closure. The performances were well done.

Annoying Sequel

Would you try another book from Wendy Spinale and/or the narrators?

I'd perhaps try another book by Wendy--I liked the first.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Not sure.

Did the narrators do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Narrators were fine. They did what they could with the material.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I still love the concept and idea behind the retelling of a classic. If only they had spent some time editing, I think the book had all sorts of potential. The Peter/Gwen drama just didn't feel authentic. I found it just to be poorly written overall.

Any additional comments?

Had hoped for more...I liked the first!
