Publisher's summary

My name is Romeo Harmon, and I’m the new sheriff of Prosper Woods, a small California town smack dab in the middle of the sequoia forest. People around here tell me the town hasn’t changed a whole hell of a lot since power lines and telephones were installed. It’s a quaint place with a movie theater that shows the old classics, a saloon with a decent choice of beer, a general store with a grumpy old coot behind the till, a gas station with a pimply young mechanic, and a bed and breakfast that attracts tourists and vacation money.

I think I’m gonna like it here.

My name is Vincent Lasco. I’ve searched a long time to find a new place to settle down. Because of what I am, I need to pull up stakes and start over every 20 years or so - before people realize that I don’t age anymore. Prosper Woods has everything a man like me could ever want. Though there aren’t many humans, it doesn’t really matter. I’m so old, I don’t need to eat very often, and there’s no reason to expose myself to the locals whom I hope to call friends some day.

I think I’m gonna like it here.

There are newcomers in town. Prosper Woods is a nice place, as long as you’re passing through. I wonder how long these folks will stay once they find out what’s really going on here. Somehow....

I don’t think they’re gonna like it here.

True Knight is the prequel to the Prosper Woods Chronicles and includes an excerpt from True Mate, the first book in the new series.

True Knight

True Knight is a fascinating paranormal story about a new sheriff in town and the vampire, also new in town, who catches his interest. I really enjoyed this book and the animosity between the vampire and the werewolves. This is a wonderful start to this series and I can only imagine were this series will go from here. Vampires, witches, werewolves, and other paranormal creatures.
Narrator John Solo does a fabulous job.

good opening to a promising series

This book is the opening to a new series with so many intriguing characters. I found the characters mostly likable (you're not supposed to like them all) and am looking forward to more of this series. the narrator was decent, each character has a distinct sound. overall an enjoyable audiobook with loads of future potential.

Great series beginning

I loved the chronicles before each chapter. It was a hoot!
The characters are interesting and the story kept make you wanting more. I listened in one sitting.

The narration I loved but John Solo is top of my list of narrators. He has good voices for each character. Good infliction of scenes. Good pacing and a calming, seductive voice. Will listen again.
Now I’m on to book One!

Love this prequel!

The storyline was unexpected and refreshing! I had listened to book one, but this gave added depth to that audiobook. I think the narrator has a fantastic range for voices and is the perfect voice for these characters. The quirky characters bring a lot of charm to the story. Now on the relisten to book one before heading to book two!

is that your horn or are you just happy to see me?

A peculiar cast of characters at play in a crazy story. Put logic and good sense away. Buy your ticket and hop aboard for a trip to an imaginary world populated by beautiful and dangerous creatures. Relax and go with it. Enjoy the ride.

really liked it

this was a very enjoyable book. it is short, but is setting up the whole series. only thing I didn't lie was having point of view scenes from characters other than the main. but I'm looking forward to the next book, to find out what happens!

enjoyed it

📖 Story comment: Good pace, likeable characters, good concept for what could be an interesting series. Has me interested enough to move onto the next one.

🎧 Narrator comment: I enjoy John Solo as a narrator, his performance isn't flawless, and there were times I nudged up the native speed to 1.1x speed just to help increase the tension of a scene, but for the most part he has good cadence, inflections and intonations, he has a good variety of character accents and it was easy to distinguish the characters from each other. Overall an enjoyable performance.

A vampire moves into the woods

This was a new to me author, but the blurb sounded interesting and there happened to be 2 additional books already out, so I decided to give Prosper Woods a try. I’m so glad I did! The various characters are wildly diverse and so colorful with a lot of good people and a few dastardly villains. My only criticism is that the story bounces around a lot, but I suppose there’s quite a bit necessary to set up the Prosper Woods environs and its denizens. John Solo is a delight to listen to with this book and is so emotive that everyone is easy to distinguish. On to True Mate now, because this is proving to be a lot of fun.
