Welcome to Cape Carnage! Visit Once, Stay Forever.
You can hide in the farthest reaches of the deepest hell, and I will still drag you out. Even the devil can’t save you from me.
Cape Carnage is a seaside town of colorful houses, quirky shops, and an unusually high body count. With tourists comes trouble, and Harper Starling won’t let anyone ruin her picture-perfect home. A skilled gardener with killer instincts, Harper protects her sanctuary—and her aging mentor with a fading memory—at any cost. Troublesome tourists don’t check out of Carnage. They compost beneath Harper’s award-winning flowerbeds.
But Nolan Rhodes isn’t your average tourist. Devilishly handsome, disarmingly charming, and skilled with a blade, Nolan is relentless in the pursuit of revenge. On every anniversary of the hit-and-run accident that fractured his life, Nolan slays another target. And he’s saved the best for last: the undeniably beautiful Harper Starling. The problem? Harper isn’t the monster he expected. And she won’t go down without a fight.
When an amateur true crime investigator comes to Cape Carnage on the trail of a long-lost serial killer, Harper and Nolan strike an uneasy truce. If Nolan helps Harper protect her town, she’ll keep quiet about his hunting habits . . . for now. But their alliance soon spirals into obsession, one that threatens to shatter every secret in Carnage—including their fragile love.
Tourist Season is a darkly funny, slow burn, enemies-to-lovers romance where destruction and desire are balanced on the edge of a blade—and where love is the most dangerous battleground of all.
Tropes:

Editorial Review
Greetings from Cape Carnage
Brynne Weaver’s latest is twisted, hilarious, and an incredible start to a new series. Cape Carnage might look like a charming coastal town, but it runs on secrets, murder, and a suspicious tolerance for bloodshed. Harper Starling is Carnage’s grumpiest gardener and fiercest protector, doling out vigilante justice with her trusty wood chipper and her murder birds. When Nolan Rhodes shows up looking for revenge, he thinks Harper is his next target, but their meeting sparks a slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers spiral filled with sharp banter, forced proximity and tension that you could cut with a knife. Narrators Samantha Brentmoor and Robert Hatchet are an absolute dream team—delivering all the funny, all the stabby and all the spice. And that cliffhanger? It’s going to haunt me until I get book two. I need more Carnage, immediately!!—Patty R., Audible Editor

3/5 🌶️
I’ll admit, I might be a little biased—Butcher & Blackbird is one of my all-time favorite books, and Tourist Season is set in the same world. We first got a glimpse of this side character in Brynne’s novella Love & Other Killers, which felt like a little appetizer leading us perfectly into this story. This was my most anticipated release of the fall, and it absolutely did not disappoint.
Brynne Weaver has such a gift with her writing. The wit, the charm, the sharp edge of her dark humor—it’s all here. She’s one of those rare authors who can make me tear up in one scene, laugh until my stomach hurts in the next, and then immediately fan myself through a spicy moment. And let’s talk about the spice—Brynne writes it so well. It never feels overdone or unnecessary. It always deepens the characters, the tension, and the overall story.
And the story itself? Incredible. Like peeling back an onion, each chapter revealed another layer I didn’t even realize I was waiting for. The banter is peak Brynne Weaver—smart, quick, deliciously addictive. Even the side characters shine (Morpheus, the little murder bird, completely stole my heart).
This book is everything I hoped it would be and more. I know it’s one I’ll come back to again and again, just like Butcher & Blackbird. Brynne Weaver proves once again why she’s an auto-buy author for me.
