Great Listen

This is one of those books I wish I had the time to actually sit and read. Great character substance and very vivid, I could vision what I was hearing.
Definitely has The outline of Stephen King's book IT where kids encounter supernatural forces and grow up to overcome it with additional twists.
I really appreciated how the author was able to bring in real life factors without politicizing it such as battling alcoholism, abusive families, discrimination and bigotry.
Joe hemple.... excellent job as usual, one of my favorite narrators.

Good writer following ITs outline.

I started this story before reading any of the reviews as I had a 2 for 1 credit and it was recommended. I'll start by saying that it's well written and the narrator is pretty good. It feels like the writer took an outline of Stephen King's IT and rewrote it using fewer characters and a weaker antagonist. It's so similar that it takes you out of the story. The writer can write. He has the ability to paint a word picture and turn a phrase. Unfortunately, whether intentional or not, the book has way too many similarities to King's already written book. That being said, I will try another of the author's books (because, as I said he CAN write) with fingers crossed that it doesn't follow a storyline someone else created.

Not a terrible story but it's essentially a mishmash of 2-3 Stephen King stories and at least one Joe Hill novel, and not nearly as good. Needed to pick a lane and stick with it.

Pleasantly Surprised

I didn’t have any expectations for this book but I was pleasantly surprised how much I liked it. More of a thriller than horror though. Still a lot of creep elements. Good narration.

Pretty Good Story and Narrated

Like story and narrator was wonderfully pleasant to listen to and want to finish. Would recommend listening.
