Publisher's summary

Miss Daphne Beekman is a mystery writer by day, inquiry agent by night. Known for her ability to puzzle out plots, she happily works behind the scenes for the Bleecker Street Inquiry Agency, staying well away from danger. However, when Mr. Herman Henderson arrives on the doorstep of the agency, desperate for someone to investigate numerous attempts on his life, Daphne soon finds herself in the thick of a case she's determined to solve.

Mr. Herman Henderson is also a mystery writer, but unlike the dashing heroes he pens, he prefers living a quiet life, determined to avoid the fate of his adventurous parents, who perished while searching for the Lost City of Gold.

As the list of suspects grows and sinister plots are directed at Daphne, the situation quickly deteriorates, and a revealed secret jeopardizes their newfound affection. Only time will tell if Daphne will be able to regain Herman's trust and save both their lives.

Unexpected joy

I didn’t know how she was going to make this character interesting, but she proved me wrong. This book had me on pins and needles. Ready for the 3rd book.

Purchased because we share a name

I listened to the previous book in the series and was introduced to Daphne. And since that is also my name, I of course had to listen to this one. These books are a delight! The women aren’t totally dependent on men. They are brilliant and beautiful. The story lines are easy enough to follow and believable to a degree.

Great Story!

Amidst the fun and mystery, important topics are also covered. Thank you to Jen Turano for writing a wonderful tale and also weaving in topics of anxiety, courage, treatment of women, and more. Also, I really enjoy this narrator and hope she continues throughout this series!

❤️ Delightful Daphne and Handsome Herman ❤️

Wonderful story! The first chapter opens with Daphne feeling like a failure as an author and a few of my most favorite animal friends on hand to inspire her.
Herman Henderson is the perfect gentleman for her. Their first meeting is quite unique. So is their second.

Be warned, Thomas Sibley is a most reprehensible character. I could not stand him!

I enjoyed the mystery very much. Daphne is very intelligent. I love how her mind works. The way Daphne and Herman communicate with each other is excellent!
I've read and listened to this book twice already. I highly recommend it. I've also pre-ordered the next Bleeker Street Inquiry Agency book.

A wonderful surprise!

I almost stopped listening to this book during the first chapter. But I stuck it out and it quickly got way way better! It turned out to be a great story, with intrigue, romance, and fun!

Loved the book, not the narration

I greatly enjoy these stories. Read the first one on Kindle. Listened to this one. The narrator added odd pauses and emphases. It took a while to get past the narration and into the story. I enjoyed it when I wasn't distracted by the narration. Excellent story.

Always a delight!

Jen Turano’s
books are always such a delight to read. I enjoy the witty banter between the characters, the character development and growth throughout the book, and the fact that the hero and heroine are both strong characters in their own right. Plus there is always added twists and turns and mystery thrown in to make it even more interesting. Please keep writing, Jen!

“Oh my” is what daphne would say:)

This book is awesome. I loved daphne at the very first because she was so honest and had an imagination and the smarts to finally solve the case. I’m going to put it on my favorites. Thank you:)

Hmmmm

This wasn't my favorite of Ms. Turano's books. It was okay but wasn't as quirky and funny as her other books I think. I'll read the next one though because I have loved the other books.
