Publisher's summary

Scott McKenzie's father killed his mother and himself. Scott vowed to do anything in his power to stop similar murders.

He longed to be a police officer, but a tour in Vietnam in 1970 derailed that career. Two years later, wounded in body and soul, Scott died. He didn't go on to what was next, though. Instead, he woke up with a chance to live his life over and over until he got it right.

Murderers will never see him coming.

But, by using violence to save others, is he losing his own soul?

Includes a special bonus note read by the author.

this might be my favorite of the series so far. Not predictable at all. So good!

Totally Outstanding

When I first started listening to this series I heard #2 first. I love science fiction and only recently started getting out of the love part. All of these books were included with my Audible script. I had a problem at first because of my belief in Jesus. I however realize this is science FICTION. This book did make me think though. If I did somehow know of future events would I be willing to kill to stop them. I dont think so but I would probably be one of the crazy ones who kept calling crime stoppers. I would however gladly give my life for my children or grandchildren so if I knew someone was going to hurt them I probably would kill the person or people without a doubt. So I am glad I wasn't faced with Scott's situation. I havent always had as good of a belief in God as I do now but after so many near death experiences some caused by drugs and alcohol and others by accidents I have to believe that there is a reason I am still here in 2021. This book touched me deeply. I do wonder what my life would have been if my brother had not gotten killed at 6 by a drunk driver walking home from school. I am the baby of 9 and I knew my father was an alcoholic but didn't realize my mom was an addict till I became one. I remember the fights and I won't say why my father died with none of his kids there. My mom had severe RA and was a legal addict. She sadly passed away when I was only 21. Until about the last 3 years of her life she never said I love you to any of the 8 remaining kids. However now looking back I know it was because she was terrified of losing another child. I apologize to the author of these books for trying to write my own book in this review. I have time now to write my own book and that is exactly what I am going to do. This series got me out of the romance plots I have always tried and failed at.

Yeah...but ...

Book 7 of the series has more murderous violence than the previous 6.
Scott McKenzie is a self-appointed preemptive killer of famous serial killers and murderers, before their most horrendous crimes take place in most cases.
The pseudo-morality of stalking and murdering to protect the innocent is played out repeatedly. Redemption in service to others and helping struggling veterans is supposed to balance out the story and redemption in the last chapter ties it all up with a nice bow.
Given the opportunity of a do-over on life, or many do-overs, I can think of hundreds of things to help my fellow man, none of them having to do with murder.

Watch out for butterflies

Middle Falls is beginning to look like a good place NOT to be from. We have seen a lot of good people and some bad ones that come from this little town in Oregon.
I have really enjoyed this series and this latest story is no exception. Although not your typical time travel scenario, we still get many of the same issues that a true traveler would have. Besides, who doesn’t want to go back and fix at least some of their mistakes – and all the havoc that mistake created. But we need to remember the butterfly effect and all the havoc that Fixing that mistake would cause in our lives as we now know it.
Sometimes the narration can be a bit dry in this one but I think that is also part of the story and it was never at the point of being a problem for me.

Enjoyed the history in this one

Lots of unfortunate and memorable situations relived in this one. Makes us all wonder what we would do. I also like how the author provides a different perspective in parts of his stories by bringing back characters from previous books. I always find myself trying to anticipate who might show up and for what reason.

In a future book though, I am hoping to hear more about the concept of the arsonist knowing he'll be killed each night. Seems that he's understood his ways and wants to move on but is not being given the opportunity. We might ask why this didn't happen to Michael Hollister, or in this book, Scott's dad.

continues to be an excellent series

As many others, I love this series! (with the exception of thr 4th book I could not even get through)
This book is very good and I couldn't get enough! The character is relatable and loved seeing his story after he was briefly introduced in thr last book.

Nice

Sometimes it was a bit long, but as soon as I found myself saying that it would pick up again. I especially enjoyed that bit about Susan Smith.

Fantastic Book

Excellent Concept....I feel this particular Book and its Concept would make a Very Good Movie... or a 3 or 4 Episode NETFLIX Series...
