Much better narration

I liked the storyline and am so glad narration was improved from the last installment. The addition of sex in this installment was totally unnecessary and simply a distraction to the story. I’m not opposed to sex in books but these books just don’t need that level of sexual detail - plenty of interesting storyline without it and for some reason it just didn’t fit and bothered me. I hope you leave it out in future books.

Deteriorating Language

The Broach series is truly amazing. I've read them all in order, which in my mind is extremely important if you want to understand many of the previous occurrences. This was an excellent book in the series EXCEPT the vile slide into the gutter the language has taken. The plot line was fantastic but a number of time I thought to, sadly, stop listening. If you don't mind filling your ears with a great story AND f-this and f-that every 3-5 sentences then you will enjoy this book. Now on to the Sunstone Broach. Hopefully, I won't be assaulted again with an outstanding plot scattered with f-bombs and so much T&A.

Just Magical

No magic but magically written. The research the author put into story form is just that! The performers brought it all to life and I don’t think anyone could have done it better. Great choice !!

Yes, Back on track with book 10!

The stories seem to be back on track thank goodness. I would not of held out after this for book 11 if a course change had not been made. Narration is much better than book 9 but not as good in my opinion as the original narrator the did the first eight books. The new narration team works well together and seem to read the different voices well, the extra sound effects that I generally don't like, isn't actually bad and doesn't over play the voices so its well edited narration. I don't pick books by narration though. I do select books by characters and plot. I am glad we are off the Thomas Jefferson topic, with Hamilton lyrics quoted on and off at least mostly - which just didn't work for me in book 9 . I also didn't get the story line where one person juts in and out of historical places to learn from master painters I wish we could let Sophia drown in Potomac River. She isn't that likeable even in these stories moving forward. That said, the Battle of New Orleans is a part of that same period of history as TJ but thankfully not much about him while alive its near the end of his life its about General Andrew Jackson and the Pirate Jean Lafitte. Perhaps this is a wrap of the whole era in some way, I am also happy to be away from the soap opera feel of book 9 that left feeling out of sorts with what type of books I was reading the style was out of balance. The Battle of New Orleans is another important early American history attempt by the Brits to dig into the American hold on the Northern American continent. The magic brooches and the fantasy story mixed in with a growing family tale. it is getting interesting with Tavis Stuart.

Very good!

I think two speakers turned out very well. I also liked the occasional sound effects.

I also enjoyed the new twist. Looking forward to what's to come!

Not just right!

The story wasn't as well developed and gripping. How did her rapist summon the blue guys? is there an opposite group to the blue guys that help the illuminati? lots of missing info. I was expecting Penny to face her rapist to overcome the PTSD. I found the Penny character hard to stomach and the singing was...nauseating and cheesy! i think my issue was Rick and Penny weren't as believable and well suited as a couple. A woman can be a warrior without all the f@#$ talk! I see Margarette and Sophia as a warriors who show their strength in their actions and determination to act independently no matter what! Still, love this series.

Review of The Topaz Brooch

This is now my favorite book in the entire world. I love this book even more than Outlander if that's possible. The audible performances and sound effects are so outstanding it had me on the edge of my seat. The vocal performances were outstanding and compelling. I couldn't stop listening. I didn't eat or sleep for 48 hours, I just listened without stopping. Please purchase this and listen as many times as you want! Remember though, it's rated R! If I were you I'd buy the whole Celtic Brooch series and listen to them all! Katherine Lowry Logan is a wonderful author and the books will make your life a better place!

Amazing Series!

An exciting addition to to the Celtic Brooch series. Each book has been unique - and fascinating. The author's ability to integrate historical figures and facts - and make them believable- is truly a gift! I look forward to the next next book in the series. If you can, start with the first one and read them in order - they build beautifully!
