Classic schooled in magic
The book had a lot of mystery and intrigue, and was a nice break from the last couple of books where it just felt like fight after fight, good book unsuspecting villain. Great groundwork for the Nextbook, thanks for not ending on a cliffhanger. I can't see why anyone would end on a cliffhanger when you're 20 book deep ;)

Great plotting / world building, though a bit sour
I have very much enjoyed the entire series. I liked the school years the most. In this book, I preferred the first third. The plot was quite good. The overall world building has been terrific, though I would hate to live with so many obnoxious people. The author is a prolific and talented writer. I do wish he would stop using the word "sour" and "sourly" so very much to describe Emily's thoughts and expressions. It appears all too frequently and I picture her making a face whenever I think of her.

Really
Wow another book full of people sitting on Emily, what a shock. Guess it's my fault for assuming the author would do anything different this book. Gotta stay with the pattern of people hating the hero right? Worst one so far imo. The author just has 5 hours worth of people treating her like garbage, then ends in a big cliffhanger so you want the next one. I think i might pirate the next few, not giving anymore of my money for sure.
