Publisher's summary

The enlightenment you seek in other religions has been present in Christianity from the beginning. Richard Rohr, a global leader in spiritual awakening, helps you recognize the forces (such as ego resistance and dual thinking) that separate you from your deeper self. Then, drawing from Gospels and the greatest Christian contemplatives, he shows you what it means to be spiritually awake. You will learn why your ego resists change and growth, what is useful about popular ideas such as the law of attraction, what Jesus, the first mythical leader in the West, can teach you, and how you can enhance spiritual awareness without sacrificing reason.

Phenomenal spiritual book for already enlightened people

This book is the greatest verbalizing thus far in my entire life, of how i have felt towards my spirituality and how conflicting its been with other people’s perspectives and how outcasted I’ve felt when it comes to my relationship with God based on common doctrine i was force fed growing up. Superb read for open minded spiritual wisdom seekers. Thank you Richard for that amazing manifestation of wisdom that you’ve released into the world to increase the insight of all willing souls trying to better understand life.

Engaging as also

As with every book by Richard Rohr, if my mind should wonder, it usually will miss something insightful. I then go back to where my mind left off. The author is never easy to read but I keep buying the next book I haven't read.

Awe inspiring

I have found so much joy and satisfaction in this book, that it has immediately become the number one staple of my library. I especially value how the author approaches Jesus and Christianity with a sincere truth purpose, leaving out more mainstream (church) political / egotistical motives.

The explanations about Jesus'way, the meanings of his teachings, and those of scripture passages, ring so true and allow embarking on a new, refreshing, powerful adventure to higher awareness.

The narration could not have been better, and feels completely in sync with the author's intended message.

Thank you, Mr Rohr, for writing this book and touching my life like no other has been able to touch it before.

Everything I've been feeling lately

I'm in RCIA right now to get confirmed in spring of 2020. This book put into words a lot of what I've been feeling lately, and gave me a renewed sense if hope and faith for the future. I know I'll come back to it again again to further develop my spiritual insight and strategies for deepening my relationship with God.

KEEP AN OPEN MIND

Get ready to challenge your thinking. Consider your mindset in relation to dualistic thinking. Richard Rohr points out the dangers of dualistic thinking that tends to put us in camps of “right” or “wrong” or “yes” and “no,” He explores the thought processes that lead us to genuine prayer and the terrifying fact that we need to make changes in our life - changes in the way we think about God, people, the universe and moral choices. Worth a re-listen.
