Every generation faces the temptation to wander from orthodoxy—to seek out the jolt that comes with false teaching, and to drift with cultural currents. And so every generation must be awakened again to the thrill of orthodoxy, and experience the astonishment that comes from stumbling afresh upon the electrifying paradoxes at the heart of the Christian faith.

In The Thrill of Orthodoxy, Trevin Wax turns the tables on those who believe Christian teaching is narrow and outdated. Returning to the church's creeds, he explains what orthodoxy is and why we can have proper confidence in it, and lays out common ways we can stray from it. By showing how heresies are always actually narrower than orthodoxy—taking one aspect of the truth and wielding it as a weapon against others—Wax beckons us away from the broad road that ultimately proves bland and boring, and toward the straight and narrow path, where true adventure can be found.

This book is great stimulus to think more deeply about my faith, and why I love it, and what I going to do with it. It carries the urgency to treasure the truths handed to me, and to carry them forward and to successfully pass them to the next runner. I love the concept of loving the truth and standing against the world for the sake of the world; To challenge falsehood for the benefit of the deceived.
This is a book that I should reread regularly. And so should you!

A Great Stimulus

This book generalizes, what other denominations believe and how think. There are bad actors in every good institution so it’s an unnecessary generalization, as it is written satan masquerades as an angel of light. This is a book about being orthodox so it is obvious biased but in a very blatant way.

Obviously biased

Thank you for jumping starting my wonder towards the beauty of orthodoxy! The power isn’t seeing; it’s in sharing.

I love how Wax brings out why solid theology based on God's timeless Word is so important. Sometimes it's tempting think, "why does this even matter if it's not hurting anyone?" Favorite thought, "how many universalists are rushing to the adventure of the mission field?"

I think Trevin did a wonderful job to accomplish his purpose. He demonstrated the thrill of being an orthodox Christian. The writing style is clear and pleasant. The content is very valuable. I loved this book and hope to recommend it to anyone who may be considering deconstructing or if they’re even just unexcited about the faith. My only complaint is about the audio. It is a little softer than most audio books and hard to get loud enough on my phone speakers.

Clear and Invigorating
