FROM TWO-MILLION-SELLING AUTHOR STEENA HOLMES AN UNPUTDOWNABLE PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER.
Jillian thought she knew her husband. They’ve been married for twenty years. But she doesn’t know him at all.
Jillian Harper thought moving to the quiet little town in Montana would be the fresh start her family needed. A charming farmhouse, friendly neighbors, and endless open fields—it was supposed to be perfect.
Until the bodies are found.
Buried deep on their land. Hidden for years.
The police are everywhere. The town is whispering. And Tucker—her devoted husband—is acting . . . strange. He won’t tell her where he was all day. He won’t explain why his phone was off. And worst of all—he won’t meet her eyes.
Jillian knows Tucker is lying. She just doesn’t know why.
But the truth is far worse than she imagined. . .
AN EXHILARATING BLEND OF BREATHTAKING SUSPENSE AND NAIL-BITING TENSION WITH A SHATTERING FINAL TWIST BY A NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR.
Perfect for fans of Freida McFadden, John Marrs, A.L. Torre, Shari Lapena, T.M. Logan and Clare Mackintosh.

The Girls in the Basement by Steena Holmes was wild. Twisted, sick, and honestly heartbreaking. People are great at facades—you think you know your husband, your parents, your friends… but do you ever really?
Jillian wants answers, and her husband avoids her at every turn. He thinks he’s “protecting” her by keeping her in the dark—but is he? Is she mentally ready for the truth? And why do women so often ignore their gut when it’s practically screaming at them? Once he does finally open up, she’s repulsed… and honestly, I was a little confused there too.
And then there’s Becky. Where is the full truth about what happened to her and how she got wrapped up in all of this? What happened to her and her son? Was calling her dad really the end of her story? I kept waiting for more closure.
Maris’ role was one of my favorites—an amazing detective who never stopped digging for the truth about her sister while still juggling normal life and family chaos. But even with her storyline, I was left wondering: what exactly happened to River? How did she end up having a daughter? Another thread I wish had been tied up a bit more.
As you can see, there are a lot of unanswered questions—but even with all the loose ends, this was a gripping, unsettling read that kept me turning the pages. A solid 3.5 that rounds up to 4 out of 5 stars for me.
