A friendship is put to the test when a young woman disappears from a quiet community in a dark and twisty novel of suspense by the bestselling author of Open House and The Vacation Rental.

Sloane Thompson has a daughter named Daisy, attends school activities with other parents, and even has an amicable relationship with her ex-husband. But after ten years in bucolic Sycamore Glen, Sloane has yet to find someone to call a true friend. Until Harper and Ben Wilson move in next door.

Harper is open, charismatic, and restless. She and Sloane quickly become confidantes and fall into a deep and intoxicating friendship. Then one afternoon, Daisy’s dependable babysitter, Margaret, fails to show. When texts from Margaret’s mother and boyfriend go unanswered, the inexplicable disappearance becomes a cause for alarm.

As anxious hours turn into days, suspicion grows. And tension tightens. As if something is about to snap. When it does, long-held secrets are revealed, and not everyone in Sycamore Glen is who they seem to be.

Reseñas de la Crítica

“A pulse-pounding psychological thriller that will leave you breathless. In a claustrophobic suburban landscape that feels like a pressure cooker of secrets, Katie Sise masterfully unravels the dark undercurrents of human nature. You Must Be New Here is both deeply unsettling and impossible to put down.”—Kaira Rouda, USA Today, Amazon Charts, and international bestselling author of Jill Is Not Happy

It was an ok story, lots of characters bouncing around. For me it was very easy to guess the reveal. The voice of Sadie’s character ruined the whole story for me though. I don’t know if the character was intentionally supposed to be like that or if it was just the narrator. But every word at the end of a sentence was drug out, and she talk like she was constantly being suspenseful. It was so distracting that I almost didn’t finish it.

Just ok

Fabulous narration and a gripping story. There were so many different stories woven together. Can highly recommend.

Great read

The story was interesting, the characters relatable in turns. May have enjoyed this story more, were it not for the narrator for Sloane. I found the timbre of her voice to be exceedingly pleasant, but the way she dragged out vowels and nose-breathed through the end of some of her words was truly distracting. I hate to be negative about someone’s voice, but this doesn’t feel like an attack on something she can change, but a stylistic choice she made that I found unfortunate at best and off-putting at worst.

Ugh. Men.

Just meh- very obvious red herring plot points and characters.
Like others the narrators weren’t my favorite. Clara was fine, Sloan’s made everything sound way more dramatic than it needed to be. Like every sentence needed to sound like something gripping was coming next when it just was a mundane thing. And the last narrator for Lucy…why did it sound like a bad AI rendering of someone with a slight Asian accent?… am I the only one that heard that? And she wasn’t Asian- or did I miss that and just hear “red hair” and assume she was a white chick 😂 it was such a weird voice.

Fine?

I haven't finished listening to it, but so far I'm really liking the story. The narration, however, not so much. I've the audiobook except the narrator for the Sloane character. I'm trying to get into audiobook narration myself, so I try not to be critical, but I may actually stop listening and read the rest of the book. The Sloane narration is that bad...my opinion, of course.

Great story... not so great narrator!

I loved the mystery of this story. It had so many characters it was difficult to keep them straight

This was a twist of a story

I'd never heard of this author or this book. It seemed interesting and had good reviews. I'm glad I gave it a shot as I ended up enjoying it very much!

Didn't know what to expect, glad I took the chance

Great characters and a quick paced story. I listened to this on audible in a few days. Nothing about it bothered me. I liked the characters, the story even slightly predictable still kept me guessing and entertained. Not to many twist and turns to be overdone and over written like allot of these books can be. I recommend it.

Page turner

I thought the book was very well written. I loved that the characters were likable and also dislikable. There were a few things I did not predict. A very easy read!

Great book!!

The plot was great. The characters were all developed well. I thought it was a little beyond reality that neighbors would become so friendly in one week but I keep reminding myself, it is just a story! Once you can keep track of the characters, it’s a quick read. The narration was terrible! Much of it was read by people that sounded so deadpan, it could have been electronic voices. I had to double check that they were real narrators. It would have been a much more serious book with better narration!

Something different!
