Smiled throughout

My review is mostly for the first book, The Game of Life and How to Play…firstly, the narrator Cary does a wonderful job, you can hear the smile in his voice. The book is full of real life stories/examples to help you better see or feel the lesson. That made it even more fun! The musical interludes in between chapters were a lovely surprise. I’ve now listened multiple times and feel more empowered and dare I say hopeful. ❤️

The Content is Brilliant, BUT...

I’ve been a Florence Skovel Shinn devotee since I first read “The Game of Life and How to Play It” decades ago. I’ve subsequently read all of her volumes many times, and I highly recommend them to everyone I know. Because I spend many hours per week on the road I thought listening to the books would be both a convenient and meaningful way to absorb the lessons. That might have proven true if literally anyone else had served as reader. Maybe it’s just me, but I find Cary Valentine’s voice supremely irritating. It’s just way too over the top for me. It sounds as though the book is being read by Al Franken’s “Stuart Smalley” SNL character. I kept expecting to hear Valentine say “I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and doggone it, people like me!”
