The Secret Life of Cats

This is a funny take on the life of cats. It wasn't laugh out loud funny, but most cat lovers will appreciate the various cat stereotypes presented, along with the various other creatures who share their world. Think roaches, rats, and dogs...and of course humans. Teens and older children would probably enjoy this audiobook, but there are references to sex that parents might not want presented to younger children. I would probably rate this PG-13.

The narration is good, and Mr.Patrella does an admirable job differentiating his voice for the various cats personified..

I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator.

A Funny Book for Us Cat Lovers

THE CATS OF SALISBURY ROAD was a really fun audiobook especially for cat people. This was a great cat drama with cool characters. It was humorous and it made me chuckle several times while listening. These cats have awesome personalities. Stan, Leslie, Martin, Hammerhead and others plus a little metaphysical time travel made for a good time. I love when one of the tortoise shells yells "He knows Krav Maga, he's military, man. Run."

I'm glad this is book one and I look forward to more from this series. I like Tom Slemen's writing.

Nicholas Patrella did an outstanding job narrating. His character voices were great. I think he made a super neat book more enjoyable. He was very entertaining and in fact, I'll probably listen to this again.

I also love the cover illustration.

Overall a lot of fun to listen to!

Would you listen to The Cats of Salisbury Road again? Why?

Yes, they were fun stories with interesting takes on love and relationships between pets and their owners from the perspective of cats. The characters were all interesting and unique.

What did you like best about this story?

The characters and their relationships to each other.

What does Nicholas Patrella bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The range of character voices were great. He didn't just give them a voice, he gave them each individual personalities.

Any additional comments?

One star off for random swears. I typically don't mind if it fits the story but sometimes it seemed out of place and kind of took me out of the story at times. Otherwise, it was great and I'm looking forward to finding out what happens next!

Any additional comments?

This is a cute book for cat lovers. I can picture a pack of cats sitting around telling "tall tails" or is it "tall tales?" Yes, I can see the different class of felines and them all acting as if humans are all inferior. Quite a fun listen.

The narration was was good, I loved the individual cat personalities that were brought to life.

Not what I expected

BOOK REVIEW.....
The story just did nothing for me. I couldn't even finish listen to it. I thought it would be funny but it wasn't.

AUDIO REVIEW......
I found the narrator to be truly awful at doing voices.
