Publisher's summary

South Africa, 21 A.T., was like Antarctica, cold, dark, and barren. Nothing should be able to survive in the Brawl’s nest, but Eryn and his brothers did. Eryn slipped in and out of the mines all his life to visit Phoenix, the last vestige of human civilization. Mika and Connor’s twins captivated him. So, he splits his priorities between his frog family and the human family he longed to join.

Using his empathic monarchical power, he forces them to hibernate while he snuck through Phoenix, watching the twins grow up. He longed to join them, but Eryn’s egg brother Ernest is cunning and a psycho cannibalistic frog man. Eryn’s opposite in every way. To save the humans and be free, he has to eliminate them, but he’s not a murderer. Thus, isolating himself, making life complicated.

When Eryn slipped away for another quick visit, Ernest followed him. The Ice King spotted them arguing, but as he approached, running like the Mothman on acid, he fell into the cracking ice. Eryn jumped to save him, but Ernest ran as fast as his froggy legs could carry him to grab four boys for dinner.

This fast-paced rescue mission uncovers millennia-old secrets and the true origin of humans. Mika and Connor can’t understand their boys’ infatuation with Eryn. Maybe it’s Stockholm, but one thing’s for sure, Eryn’s double-dipping. He would go to lengths to please them. Sharing comes naturally to Ivan and Cian, like sharing an ice cream.

The Brawl King is the debut novel of Kashel Char. It is the first in a planned post-apocalyptic sci-fi fantasy series featuring gifted otherworldly paranormal beings falling in love.

Warning: This story has explicit and graphic depictions of imprisonment, violence, blood, and gore. It is unsuitable for young and sensitive listeners or anyone offended by gay sex.

Critic reviews

"Jonathan Waters performs a fascinating paranormal romance about the aftermath of a mission to rescue abducted children. While the audiobook continues the characters and events of a previous book, the story is compelling in its own right. Waters breathes life into all the characters, giving each a suitable accent or vocal quality that makes them stand apart. His animated tone captures the ear with an emotive pull. The romance elements are just as pulse pounding as the action-packed and thought-provoking scenes. An alternate vision of Atlantis is a wondrous setting for a performance that combines mythology, science fiction, and steamy romance with deft grace, all of which is boosted by the outstanding Jonathan Waters." Rollercoaster ride, you never want to stop❤️

The narrator did a fantastic job giving each of these characters a voice. My interest was peeked and I was sucked into this story all the way to the end. So much happens, and it's impossible to start and describe it all because the author has written it so well, I don't want to give anything away and spoil it for anyone. Whatever you think this is as book 2, it is not that. It blew my mind and I am now eagerly waiting for the next one. I love all the characters and they were all so well-developed, I cried and laughed and fell in love with all of them. You have to listen to this it's incredibly thought-provoking in such a subtle way which makes this an unforgettable experience. Well done and thank you to the author and narrator, this was such a gift!
