At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. When out-of-shape IT technician Roen wakes up and starts hearing voices in his head, he naturally assumes he’s losing it. He isn’t. As of last night, he has a passenger in his brain - an ancient alien life-form called Tao, whose race crash-landed on Earth before the first fish crawled out of the oceans. Over the millennia his people have trained human heroes to be great leaders, to advance our species at a rate far beyond what it would have achieved on its own. Split into two opposing factions - the peace-loving, but under-represented Prophus, and the savage, powerful Genjix - the aliens have been in a state of civil war for centuries.

Growing from a boy to a man is no easy task. Bodies are changing, social circles are evolving, hair is appearing in places it never was before - and on top of it all, there's the ever-present pressure to conform to the typical idea of what it means to be "manly". But it's easier to do if you're armed with facts. Using personal anecdotes as an overly observant mother of two boys and plenty of scientific information from her life as a neuroscientist, Mayim Bialik, PhD, star of The Big Bang Theory, talks directly to teen boys about what it means to grow from a boy to a man.

No matter how old you are, there's a good chance that the word popular immediately transports you back to your teenage years. Most of us can easily recall the adolescent social cliques, the high school pecking order, and which of our peers stood out as the most or the least popular teens we knew. Even as adults we all still remember exactly where we stood in the high school social hierarchy, and the powerful emotions associated with our status persist decades later. This may be for good reason.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning critic and memoirist Margo Jefferson has lived in the thrall of a cast of others—her parents and maternal grandmother, jazz luminaries, writers, artists, athletes, and stars. These are the figures who thrill and trouble her, and who have made up her sense of self as a person and as a writer. In her much-anticipated follow-up to Negroland, Jefferson brings these figures to life in a memoir of stunning originality, a performance of the elements that comprise and occupy the mind of one of our foremost critics.

The story was very well written, and for the most part, the narrator did a fairly decent job. The only complaint I have is the way he pronounced Ragnarok.

Narration
While not bad, the narrator sounds like he should be reading young children's books. It's difficult to focus on the serious situations when it feels like I'm listening to the narrator of Curious George. Also when reading a characters inner thoughts he doesn't use their voice, rather he reads it normally. No other audio book narrator I've heard does that, so it kept throwing me off.
I thought it was a bit interesting how he uses classic style comic hero voices for the characters, though I believe it would have been better of they only spoke that way while in costume as a way of masking their true voice. As it is we have to hear Titan in his Crimson Chin voice throughout it all, even when he's supposed to be shouting in defence of his son, and it's quite silly.
Stories like Journey to the West can make this work more, since those kinds of stories are written in a more comical style. However I think it works to the detriment of the storie in this case.
Overall I think a somewhat more drama style narration would work better, especially for the parts of the series that include Krodin. I genuinely can't imagine this narration style describing Krodin killing slaves or throwing heads through people's chests.
