About this listen

Debbie Macomber’s special warmth and heart shine in this classic novel of letting love find its way home.

After watching the man she loves walk down the aisle with her sister, Cathy Thompson needs to get away. Alaska - beautiful, remote, and far from bitter memories - sounds like the perfect place to start over. But a brand-new life comes with brand-new challenges...namely Grady Jones, a pilot and single dad who has a solution to both their problems: a marriage of convenience.

Grady isn’t looking for love. He tried that once and failed. He just needs a wife, and Cathy is smart, easy on the eyes, and adored by his daughter. But Grady doesn’t count on the way Cathy gets under his skin, the way she makes him want to be a better husband and father. Grady didn’t think he had any more love inside to give, but Cathy proves him wrong. With his wife by his side, this pilot learns to soar on the wings of a future neither of them dreamed possible.

I know this story was supposed to be romantic but I seriously did not like how he treated her at all.

I got hooked on DM's books reading the "Heart Of Texas" series. I will read any author that is good and DM's books are good. I like to read/listen to her books after I have read something intense. The story are very relatable to everyday life. DM writing reminds me a lot like LaVyrle Spencer who's books are phenomenal! DM puts a lot of thought, time and research in her books. The stories flow nicely.

Easy Read!

Freshened up Macomber offering from her early days is enjoyable, but a bit repetitive in spots.

Blast From the Past Macomber

The story was read well but it seemed old fashion for today’s times. They author did say that it was a story from one of her older books and that she updated it. But in today’s society it didn’t sit well with me.

Well read but a bit old school

Debbie is slowly becoming one of my favorite authors. This is the second book of hers I’m reading within a day. Her creativity keeps me attentive, as I have a difficult time staying in tune with a variety of books but hers is uniquely different. It’s a clean romance/family type book, no cursing or overly erotic scenes but still has a punch of drama and perks curiosity. Cathys husband, leaves her for her sister. Crazy right? What a douche bag. And as a result, Cathy “flees” to collect herself. While her new life begins to settle in place, she finds herself looking to date and discovers a spark with Greg; who is also the father of one of the girls she teaches. Things move fairly quickly and they fall “in love” but Cathy still has reoccurring thoughts of her ex, so is she really in love ? As she gets closer to Greg and his daughter Angela, will her past feelings for her past relationship go away or will she break two hearts because she can’t commit to them and be part of their family?

Rating 8.5/10

Pros: this is sort of a pro and a con. I hated how accurate some parts were...how certain individuals were treated in the story, mirrored real life and it tugged at my nerves how stupid and selfish some people could be, but at the same time it got me involved in the story.

Cons: didn’t like the actions of some of characters.

Eligible to be on the screen as a movie/tv series?...yes

The story just was not great. Listened to the end because I started it. The last 5 minutes were the best.

The worst book

First time listening to a book on audible. Felt I couldn’t go wrong with one of my favorite authors. Was I wrong. First time ‘reading’ this book and it is her worst ever. ‘Performance’ annoying. Happy This is a trial period.

First timer dissappointment
