Story
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them. With fewer dragons willing to bond than cadets, most would kill Violet to better their own chances of success.

Doctor's Notes Review
- By Doctor's Notes on 12-28-14
By: Julie Kagawa
Publisher's summary
The Shadowhunters of Los Angeles star in the first novel in Cassandra Clare's newest series, The Dark Artifices, a sequel to the internationally best-selling Mortal Instruments series. Lady Midnight is a Shadowhunters novel.
It's been five years since the events of City of Heavenly Fire that brought the Shadowhunters to the brink of oblivion. Emma Carstairs is no longer a child in mourning but a young woman bent on discovering what killed her parents and avenging her losses.
Together with her parabatai, Julian Blackthorn, Emma must learn to trust her head and her heart as she investigates a demonic plot that stretches across Los Angeles, from the Sunset Strip to the enchanted sea that pounds the beaches of Santa Monica. If only her heart didn't lead her in treacherous directions....
Making things even more complicated, Julian's brother, Mark - who was captured by the faeries five years ago - has been returned as a bargaining chip. The faeries are desperate to find out who is murdering their kind - and they need the Shadowhunters' help to do it. But time works differently in faerie, so Mark has barely aged and doesn't recognize his family. Can he ever truly return to them? Will the faeries really allow it?
Glitz, glamours, and Shadowhunters abound in this heartrending opening to Cassandra Clare's Dark Artifices series.

Wonderful Story... Terrible Narrator
The story was amazing, it was full of forbidden love, the edge of barely held back feelings and, of course, the epicness and edge-of-your-seat action of all Shadowhunter Books. The narrator, however was monotone, did not distinguished between characters, and almost ruined the experience of listening to the book with her droll and bored reading.

Soooo Good!!!
As always Cassandra Clare has killed it with yet another saga in the Shadowhunter world!! Emma has become my favorite female shadowhunter, yes I said it. Favorite! She is smart, badass, witty and has princess hair...I mean come on! What's not to love?! I do hope that one day we can see Emma and Julian be who they are meant to be to each other. I also really hope that we see more of Tessa and Jem!! I miss them from the Infernal Devices series...which by the way*wink, wink*...you should go read or listen to immediately if you haven't! Absolutely stunning and I can't wait to read more about Emma and Julian's story. Highly recommend!
