Publisher's Summary

To save his family from his tyrannical mother, Julius had to step on a lot of tails. That doesn't win a nice dragon many friends, but just when he thinks he's starting to make progress, a new threat arrives. Turns out, things can get worse. Heartstriker hasn't begun to pay for its secrets, and the dragons of China are here to collect. When the Golden Emperor demands his surrender, Julius will have to choose between loyalty to the sister who's always watched over him and preserving the clan he gave everything to protect.

"One hour standing ovation! BRAVO! BRAVO! BRAVO!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I've listened to at least 500 hundred audio books. I am an author of 9 books, all of which I have produced as audio books. This book is easily among the Top Ten of all. Rachel Aaron is a magnificent, imaginative story teller. Rachel is a preeminent proponent of Dragons, Merlins and Immortal Spirits everywhere!

Vikas Adam is gives the BEST single-voice performance of ANY audio book I've heard! Truly amazing!!!!

What was one of the most memorable moments of A Dragon of a Different Color?

The Epilogue is the best cliff-hanger, come-on to buy the next book I've ever heard. Wow!!!!

What does Vikas Adam bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Vikas Adam is gives the BEST single-voice performance of ANY of the 500+ audio books I've heard! Truly amazing.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I am truly moved by the empathy, innocence, benevolence and egalitarian sanity (contrasted against sociopathic cruelty and Overwhelming Evil of his mother, the Leviathan, et. al.) voiced through the character of Julius Heartstriker. This is one of the very rare books in modern fiction that evokes kindness in the reader. Thank you Rachel.

    Any additional comments?

If you don't listen to any other Fantasy Series this year, listen to this one!

    "I cried. twice"

one of the best continuation of a series I have ever read. I think Aaron can do with her words something even the greats poets and writers can't express. I can't wait to see where Aaron will take the series I don't want it to stop even though I know there is only one book left.. I just love her writing.. what can I say??
whomever didn't read one single book of the Heartstrikers series need to fix that wrong and read all of the books like four or five different time before you can even comprehend the Brilliance of those books... Harry Potter who??? best Orban fantasy of the decade
Shutout to Vikas Adam that is amazing as the narrator for this book every character felt unique, felt amazingly real, living and breathing. I didn't felt like someone tell me a story I felt like there is a performance and I'm hearing something that going around on a stage with actual actors Vikas Adam you are brilliant!!!

    "Good, but drawn out"

A chunk of this book is just rehashing the same discussion for the one or two characters who weren't in the room. It makes whole chapters feel like repeats of the one before.

    "Too. Much. Talking."

I loved the first three books and, yes, the last two hours of this book as well. But OMG, the first 19 hours was nothing but protracted argument after protracted argument followed by more talking and, then, finally, talking. This whole book took place over 24 hours and it was almost real time. Hoping the next book has more action and less talking.

    "Losing steam"

The first three books in this series were enjoyable. Now, I’m losing interest. Too little focus on the dragons, and too much focus on the spirit world. The authors’ blatant atheism rings loud and clear in this latest edition, also. Hope the author doesn’t stretch this story out much further. The story lines could easily have been wrapped up with this book. Narration was spot on, though, throughout, and, in some places, rescued the material.

"still a strong storyline - love the reader!"

I stumbled on the series and liked the plot but what kept me coming back was the reading performance. I always buy the next one through kindle but wait to start until audible has it too. excellent.

    "A Truckers Nightmare"

I have enjoyed listening to this captivating, and often funny series; the narration, up to this point had been spot on.
So what was different with this book, you may ask..? The production quality. If you're using ear buds or, as in my case the truck radio through Bluetooth, the almost whispered narration, coupled with the sharp, piercing dialogue is enough to make your eyeballs itch!
    It's called COMPRESSION; USE IT!!!
Other wise, the story was the usual, wonderfully odd collection of characters & events.
Is it possible for a re-produced version to be updated in our libraries?
