Publisher's Summary

I'm one of four Willow daughters. He's the first-born son of the Scafoni family. And we have history.

For generations, the Scafoni family have demanded a sacrifice of us. A virgin daughter to atone for sins so old that we don't even remember what they are anymore.

But when you have as much money as they do, you don't play by the rules. You make them.

And Sebastian Scafoni makes all the rules.

The moment I saw him, I knew he would choose me. Even though the mark on my sheath declared me unclean. Even though my beautiful sisters stood beside me, offered to him, he still chose me.

He made me his. And then he set out to break me.

What a thriller!

The Scafoni and Willow families have been tied together for centuries by a cursed and brutal tradition. This generation Helena has been chosen to be the sacrifice. This begins 3 years of sexual slavery and brutality by the 3 Scafoni brothers. The most brutal though is Sebastian's stepmother. Soon Helena finds herself falling in love with Sebastian. But can she trust any of the Scafoni family members especially Sebastian. If so, will he be able to save her?

The narrators did an excellent job of taking the listener into this very dark world.

I voluntarily received this Audible book in exchange for an honest review. I really liked this book. It is full of mystery, hidden truths, sinister people, twists and turns, erotic sexual scenes, superstitions, angst, who can be trusted issues, and love. It does contain a cliffhanger but the second book is there to be listened to/read. I will be listening to it right away. If you like dark erotic romance books this is one for you.

TAKEN 😣😤

WARNING! 😣 this book isn't for the faint of heart people. This book has verbal, and physical abuse in it so if these are triggers for you than I would think twice about this one. This first book is very very dark.

Addictive Dark Romance

Overall 4 stars
Performance 4.5 stars
Story 3.5 stars

I don't read much dark romance, but I've made an exception a few times for Natasha Knight and I have never regretted it. Her books and characters push me out of my comfort zone and are so addictive! Once I started this one, I didn't want to stop and it remained in my thoughts until I could get back to it. The premise is so intriguing and I couldn't wait to find out more about the history between the Scafoni and Willow families. I will admit that not everything made the most sense, but the pacing was good and I felt engaged and invested the entire time. Make no mistake though, this book is not for the faint of heart. There are some very difficult chapters with questionable consent and possible triggers for listeners/readers. The Stockholm Syndrome was also strong and I'm not entirely sure how much I consider this a romance. There's a scene towards the end that had me cringing due to its brutality and how much the anti-hero, Sebastian, derived sexual gratification from the entire exchange. Listeners/readers should also note that this is book 1 of the duet, so brace yourself for the cliffhanger because it's a doozy!

Michael Pauley and MacKenzie Cartwright did a fantastic job bringing Sebastian and Helena to life. Pauley's performance was especially riveting and I am always impressed by his ability to embody these morally ambiguous heroes. I think my only issue with his performance is that it seemed muffled/not as clear as MacKenzie Cartwright's. Overall a great listen and I can't wait to start book 2!

Scafoni Family VS Willow Daughters

Taken (Dark Legacy Duet #1) by Natasha Knight is a very dark erotic romance with triggers. The Scafoni & Willow family
have history together, being tied together for centuries by a curse & a brutal tradition. A intensely, dark, mysterious & absolutely captivating listen. Oodles of details explaining certain events, however the further I delve into this duet the more questions I have. A game of cat and mouse being played by these characters. Characters are compelling as well as have complex personalities. This author intertwined a tale that includes a family curse, betrayal, criminal aspect, enemies to lovers trope, morbidly twisted, & sensuality. I'm so ready to dig into book two as this ends in a cliffhanger.

Narators Michael Paulie and Mackenzie Cartwright are new to me as I haven't listened to anything they narrated before. I revel in the naration. These two together brought the narrative & characters into existence.

Cliff Hanger but so worth it!!

I’ll start by saying this has good narration, you cannot go wrong with Michael Pauley!! Sebastian and Helena are brought together by a centuries old “deal” between families. It is an intense, dark romance that has several twist and turns. It is classic Natasha, she keeps you wanting more. Several questions remain unanswered so it does not have a sweet ending wrapped up in a pretty little bow, but it leaves you ready to dive into book 2!!! THAT ENDING, GAAAAAH!

Okay, this story was so freaking good!
The male narrator was perfection, I enjoyed listening to his voice, felt the excitement and mystery of the story through his narration. The female narrator did not impress me at first but she to one me over. The author wrote one heck of a story and that plot twist, bam! Need book 2 like yesterday.

Wow!!!

Taken is book one in the new Dark Legacy Series. I found myself on another emotional journey with this book. This is more then just a story of revenge and romance between the Willow and Scafoni families, this is about two damaged people named Sebastian and Helena. There are so many twists and turns to this story that I would find my self wanting to listen to it for longer times, and the narrators, Michael Pauley and Mackenzie Cartwright, did such a great job to make me feel like I was feeling all of Sebastian and Helena's emotions that I didn't want this book to finish. I can't wait for the next book!!

Oh So Good!!!

I loved this dark book!! Sebastian is easy to fall for. Heck I just listened to it and I am falling for him. Helena was the chosen one. Though her sisters are pure and she is not. I love her tenacity although she is in a bad place. She is a fighter.

Michael Pauley and MacKenzie Cartwright did a great job with narration!

I cannot wait to start listening to Torn!!

Dark and powerfully seductive

If you enjoy a dark romance with broken characters and intense sexuality this book is for you! This is not your typical BDSM book. This skirts the borders of consent and delves into sexual desire and pain. The attraction between the MC's is obvious though and the storyline is fantastic! Just a warning.. Holly cliffhangers Batman!! Be ready to lock yourself in binge because you'll want to jump right into the next book!

The only part I struggled with was the narration. The female part was AMAZING! I wish she would have just just done the whole thing. Her voices for all the characters were fantastic. The male narrator, not so much. He honestly sounded almost robotic at times. His performance was forced, rushed and flat. It really threw off the flow for me when they switched.

Dark and twisted. I loved it.

Holy moly, what a story, what a rollercoaster ride. A dark tale of sacrifice, deception, and power, not forgetting all the sin and lust. An age old tradition that involves the wonderfully bright and strong Helena Willow being taken to task by the harsh and demanding Sebastian Scafoni, but that’s just for starters, there are two more brothers to follow in his footsteps, and they won’t be nearly as accommodating to her needs. Dark and extremely twisted, it was my kind of read, I loved Sebastian, he was such an alpha, the rest of the family, well, got to say, they were a little scary. The angst towards the end of the audio was unbearable, I kept having to pause and take a breather. Then the ending, I did not see that coming. I am so ready to start book 2, Torn. Full five stars from me. I loved the narration. Michael Pauley and MacKenzie Cartwright are new narrators to me, and they were perfect. I particularly loved Michael Pauley’s nasally rasp, so sexy.

Amazing!

This book was absolutely amazing. I was so captivated by the whole thing, as with all books by Natasha. There are scenes that had my jaw dropping and others that had my heart hurting Helena. The narrators' give a stunning performance, making you feel as though you are right there with them. I love Sebastian and Helena's twisted story. I'm moving on quickly to book two, as the cliffhanger is making me insane!!!

Natasha, you are one of my favorite authors!

Intense Twisted Dark Romance - Must Read/Listen!

Taken by Nataha Knight is a Dark Twisted Romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Michael Pauley and MacKenzie Cartwright. This is the first book of Dark Legacy Duet Series. This is the first book of Natasha’s that I have read and let me tell you she does not disappoint. I couldn’t stop listening. I look forward to reading the next book in the series Torn.

Michael and MacKenzie did an amazing job narrating. I love when they use two narrators so you can really get into each character. Michael did an amazing job playing Sebastian with the dark ruff voice. MacKenzie did an amazing job with Helena and the other female characters. I cannot wait to hear future projects from both narrators.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes Dark Romances.

Dark & Steamy

Taken is a bit jacked up.

Helena is one of four Willow girls. She’s chosen by the eldest Scafoni son, Sebastian, as a sacrifice that has been going on for generations. Sebastian is dominate and depends Helena listen to him. When she’s doesn’t, he punishes her with hot, rough sex.

Michael Pauley was a great Sebastian. I love the fact that he amped up the scenes with his tone when it needed it. He was able to portray Sebastian anger and need perfectly.

Mackenzie Cartwright also did an amazing job as Helena. I love that when she asked questions you are able to actually hear the question in her voice (if that makes sense). She put the emotions where they needed to be.

The book was good. It’s not something that I normally go for but over all it was pretty good.

Taken...

Such a dark romance. It kept me on the edge of my seat. The Willow girls are some sort of tradition given to the Scafoli family when they come of age. This time the older brother Sebastian has his pick. He chooses the "ugly duckling" and she is a pistol. There's lots of drama. Two brothers waiting for their turn with the willow girl, a sadistic mother and an island full of secrets. Now, I gotta read the next installment because I have to know what happens to this disfunctional family. Is there love in their future?

Fantastic Story & Listen🎧 Twisted, Dark & Intense

This is the 1st book to the Dark Legacy Duet and you will want to have the second book ready and waiting as soon as you finish. Natasha Knight masterfully takes you to the edge of your seat, the edge of your comfort level with this story. It is the type of story you can not put down, it draws you right in and takes over your mind, nothing else matter but knowing what comes next in this twisted and intense story. The Scafoni and Willow Families have a pact, an archaic one, that they have practiced for generations. One of the Willow daughters is to be sacrificed and given to the Scafoni’s sons for their taking. The eldest makes the choice, for this generation it is Sebastian and he chose Helena, the most spirited of the sisters. She is brought back to his home on an island in Italy to become his and then handed down to the brothers with intentions of breaking her. There are many secrets amongst the Scafoni’s and lies between them. There is evil as well, including Lucinda, Gregory and Ethan’s mother. Thank you Natasha Knight for this fantastic story!

I listened to the Audible edition, Michael Pauley and MacKenzie Cartwright are awesome narrators and voice performers. They bring each character to life, give them their own voice and personality. They set the perfect tone for this story and add the right amount of dramatic flair. They are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to.

So dark and twisted

I love dark and twisted books and this one was so good. I have read other books by this author but I think this is one of my favorites. The narrators did a great job with this story that I will say they made it better!!! This story starts off with 2 families that have a debt/ have been cursed. Sebastian has to pick one of the Willow girls and the one he picks will change thier lives forever. This book is part one of the story and it packs a punch. If you like darker books this is for you.

WOW... worth the credit

If you aren't into dark romance stay away from this one, Its not for you. I love Dark and this book is definitely that, so much so it had me unsettled at times; in the best way. Have book 2 waiting because the cliffhanger is huge and you'll want to jump right in. Mackenzie Cartwright did a good job with her narration. I have no complaints. Michael Pauley has an accelerated delivery but once I adjusted my speed I was able to appreciate his performance. I felt like a voyeur with his more than realistic conveyance of the hot and steamy stuff. I hope they give awards for most authentic sex scenes because he is absolutely worthy of this award. 🏆

I NEED MORE!

Taken, the first book in the Dark Legacy Duet had me captivated for the entire book. Every generation, a virgin Willow daughter is sacrificed to the Scafoni men. Out of this generation's quadruplet daughters, Helena is the chosen one. And now Sebastian, the oldest of the Scafoni's has the first of 3 years to do with as he pleases. And he pleases all right. This dark, sensual story is addictive. I can't decide if I love Sebastian or hate him. He is cruel one minute and tender the next. But this book is not only about Sebastian and his obsession with the beautiful Helena. The history of why this tradition takes place is mind melting. With a curse and money, things certainly have these two families tied together. The question is, will it continue and what will Helena's fate be? Left on a cliffhanger, make sure you have book 2, Torn loaded and ready to go! You will definitely want to know the answers!

Michael Pauley and Mackenzie Cartwright are mesmerizing. Pauley always brings his best, and in dark romance, he truly shines. He has an emotion in his voice that makes Sebastian almost vulnerable at times, and in the next breath, he turns evil. I love it! Cartwright, with her amazing talent brings Helena in full of spunk, not being taken down. I love her emotional push pull as she is pushed into this new world, making want to get her out and help her! Glad there is more coming of these two!
