Publisher's summary

One night was all we had.
He's a gorgeous doctor on a mission to save the world.
I'm a secretary that's just trying to make ends meet....

Dressed in a ball gown at the masked ball.
I felt like Cinderella that night.
And for the first time I felt beautiful, even graceful.
Until.... I spilled my drink down the sexy stranger's suit.
Turns out he's Duncan Clyburne.
A surgeon from one of the wealthiest families in NYC.

Yeah, we come from completely different worlds.
Yet, we shared one unforgettable passionate night together.

Now he's in a war-torn country saving lives.
At least that's what I thought. Till he walked back into my life.
And walked into the secret in an unimaginable way.
With him delivering our baby!

Do you think now is a good time to tell him?

okay story terrible narrator

I know before I purchase this book I read the reviews and everyone said the same thing about the narrator but I thought I could get past that I struggled to finish this book because the female narrator was so annoying to me for this kind of story the mail was okay I feel like the book could have been a lot better if the narrator's was different but overall the book was okay but it was reall difficult to get past the narrators voice

Wish Alexis was smarter.

I was kind of enjoying the story till Alexis let Henry into her Apartment. Why? She knew that it was a bad idea. After that I realized she wasn’t as smart as I thought she was. Sorry
but I lost interest after that. I did finish the book though.

Not my favorite book.

The Heroine is extremely immature. To many themes of negativity in her life. when sexual harassment is taking place freaking turn it in. mostly so it does not continue to happen. The only good parts of the story is the Doc. I really don't know why anyone would put up with the heroine. plus the best friend is nuts.

The story line was good but it was dragged out a little bit too much for my liking

Thank Goodness it's over

I should've listened to the other reviews. I knew it could be bad from the start but month after month this sat in my wishlist because I loved the idea behind the storyline and there was so much potential for a great story but it fell flat. I hated both narrators.
SPOILER Alert:
The narrators read it like they were so detatched and it made it so that I didn't even care about any of the characters until the story was almost done. I wasted a credit and usually I'd stop and return the book when I see it's going south so early, but I hoped it would get better. There were a few scenes I really wanted to like like their meet cute and the baby conception screwing scene at the party, but it was even hard to get into that but for the entire story that night was epic and both characters want no one else...really😕 Then of course they go their separate ways and her friend conviences her to hang out with a psycho who only goes crazy once the lead guy returns. Ugh. Then she kept putting up with a bad job full of sexist pigs which was crazy cuz it was a law office so when that guy kept coming to get desk, did she ever think to record his comments and sue them. Then it seems like she never got her life in track as far as career goes which only makes her fear that much more of a possibility cuz she'll always be dependent on him. It was annoying. Anyway, I loved how he returned in time to deliver the baby and he was truly heroic using skills he picked up on from his medical trip. However, she wakes up to the crazy guy that hurt her standing in her hospital room with delusions of them being together after he clearly hurt her enough for her to say stop you're hurting me while 2 guys have to peel him off her so why that wasn't enough to get a restraining order, especially once he constantly stalks her was really confusing. Then she kept opening the door with our looking, which was weird given her on I'm poor and scared of the rich routine. You would think she'd at least know she has to keep herself and her baby safe but she let each guy come in without looking. Smh to females everywhere. I basically rolled my eyes throughout the entire story. The story finally got better once he learned the baby was his, but I hate when women lie to men about their child's parentage so I couldn't sympathize with her and she annoyed me until he finally knew the truth which was sad the way he found out, especially given that even his brother learned the truth before him and even tried to blackmail her into leaving and yet that did even convince her that she kept the secret too long. She was waiting on lawers to learn her rights against him just because he's rich, but how was she affording lawyers while worrying about childcare if she returned to work, not knowing if he horrible bosses would even let her return to work after maternity leave, and trying to figure out how to pay next month rent. It was just stupid with all so had going on to not tell him or at least get to know him once he returned. He was only cold to her cuz he thought she was with the psycho guy, what was her excuse? So she really liked him, love even, but let me not talk to you because of my dear which she even admitted was selfish but the only time I hated her best friend was when she didn't use that opportunity to stress that he's she had reason to be fearful, but one day her daughter will want to know her father and he has a right to know. Oh well I guess they needed that drama for the story, but it was silly and immature, clearly he care enough to save her and their baby once her returned. Then if you don't know if he wants kids, why not ask him on dates and get to know him to at least find out, but she was so cynical and hardened maybe by her mom's passing and having to give up schooling and thus her life to care for her mom before she passed. IDK. Like I said it got better at the end once the truth was out and they worked their way to a HEA, but it was also very predictable from that point on. In a way she may have been lucky he found out another way and was able to talk to his mother before he confronted her. The mother had some good points, but it feel more like the author trying to justify why she didn't tell him and I get fear is paralyzing but given the so called feelings they have for each other, the epic sex scenes that became way more constant once her learned she wasn't with psycho guy, and interaction with his daughter, there really wasn't anything other then his money and the mess her life was in that would make that such a big deal. Oh well it's over and I wouldn't recommend it.

Not worth the money!

It started out good, but the heroine not telling Duncan he was the father after his return and resuming their relationship was just frustrating and stupid. It was difficult finishing the book.
