Publisher's summary

Dr. Ben Merrick and his fiancé, Rachel Gardner, can't get her divorced parents to stay in the same room, much less attend their wedding together. He is already looking over his shoulder expecting more trouble from a very senior surgeon who has shown he is still smarting from a previous dust-up, but Ben doesn't know if a series of mishaps and accidents are caused by a disgruntled patient's relatives or represent more from the older surgeon. Complicating it all is the question of whether Rachel's father is back doing drugs. Then, when people start dying, Ben and Rachel wonder if they can escape unscathed - and alive.

A good short medical mystery

As usual, Bill Nevitt does a great job bringing out the characters with his narrations. I felt like I got to know the people in this book so it was easy to follow along while trying to guess what was going to happen. There was a lot of behind the scenes with the hospital, patients and doctors. The mystery kept me interested and the references to God and faith was refreshing. I was voluntarily provided this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator

I really loved it!

At my request, I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Surgeon’s Choice was honestly a breath of fresh air for me. It was extremely well researched, beautifully written, and overall a gripping story filled with mystery. With wholesome characters you couldn’t help but love, it was easy for me to get sucked in quickly. Not to mention the narrator was great! He speaks with just the right amount of enthusiasm and feeling so that the narration did not feel over the top or forced. I was also very impressed by the terminology and detail that went into the medical aspect of the book. It was obvious that the author put forth maximum effort.
The running time is perfect. You get a good solid story without the feeling that it could go on forever and ever.

One of those tales that could actually happen in real life (and has happened). Extra points for genuine believability!

I believe I will be looking into some of the author’s other books.

I highly recommend! 👍🏼👍🏼

Good Insite into a Doctor's life

this book was an okay story. The narration made filled it with life. While I'm not a fan of this type of story - it held my interest as the plot developed. I will listen to it again, the story demands it.

Enjoyable medical mystery

This novella is a quick, enjoyable medical thriller. Surgeon, Ben Merrick, and his Registered Nurse fiancé, Rachel Gardner, are in the process of planning their wedding but family dynamics, problems at work and people turning up dead, cause major complications.
This medical mystery had suspense, intrigue, romance and some twists. The narrator of the audiobook, Bill Nevitt, is easy to listen to, kept a good pace and differentiated the characters well. The only drawback I found was that the main character was a bit flat and lacked emotional response at times. This was still a very enjoyable audiobook and I would definitely listen to/read more books by this author.

Descriptive

It's a bit descriptive, but it's a good story with good characters and it was intriguing and if you can handle, the descriptive descriptions, that the narrator described nicely, well you'll definitely enjoy it. They told the story quite well.
So when you get a chance pick up a copy of either the eBook or Audio version and enjoy.

Great Read

Surgeon’s Choice was a good read by Richard L. Mabry. Dr Ben Merrick and his fiancé Rachel Gardner are planning their wedding but are finding it hard to get her divorced parents to stay in the same room. He has been looking over his shoulder expecting trouble from a senior surgeon. There are a series of mishaps and accidents that he isn't sure if they are cause by a disgruntled patients relatives or from the senior surgeon. Rachel's father starts doing drugs again and then people start dying, Ben and Rachel wonder if they will make it out alive. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.
