Story
The box contained a cell phone, which rang as soon as she opened the package. A voice that called Dr. Kathy Hoover by name said that her husband had been kidnapped. To get him back, she would have to poison one of her patients. At first, she didn’t believe that her husband had been taken from the conference he was attending, but soon she discovered that the kidnappers really had Darren. If she wanted to see him again, she had to give medication that would murder Kelton Rush, former Vice-President. What was she to do? How would she handle this critical decision?

Story
When Dr. Caden Taggart saw the two men sitting in his waiting room, he didn’t think they were patients. He was right, and when they introduced themselves as agents of the Drug Enforcement Agency, things started to get bad. Then Caden felt as though someone had gut-punched him when his father, Dr. Henry Taggart, told him he probably had carcinoma of the pancreas. When he talked about his son assisting with his suicide, Caden wondered how he could talk him out of that.

Publisher's Summary
Killer or target?
Dr. Kelly Irving knew her husband, attorney Jack Harbaugh, was acting strangely but figured they’d get through it. When she backed out of her garage that morning, she thought her car hit a bump. Instead, its progress was stopped by the body of a man her husband recently represented. Not only that, the dead man had been shot by her husband’s gun.
The police who investigated made it clear that Jack was a primary suspect. Kelly couldn’t decide if Jack was a murderer or marked as the next victim. As things continued to escalate, they were forced to put their marital differences aside and concentrate on keeping Jack alive while discovering who was behind the whole thing.

Emergency Case
This book is a quick listen and reminded me of watching a police TV show. A young lawyer, Jack Harbaugh, and his wife. Dr. Kelly Irving, are caught up in a murder investigation after Jack takes on a new client. What he thinks is a simple drug charge turns into so much more and soon Jack and Kelly are running for their lives.
The book is entertaining, but nothing too unique or different. The characters could have been better developed and more interesting and I found Jack to be especially aloof. Not a bad book, just nothing too exciting. The writing reminded me more of a screenplay than a novella. But, I would probably read another book by Dr. Mabry.
The narrator, Bill Nevitt, does his usual excellent job and is the highlight of this book in my opinion. He always does a great job and keeps the listener's interest even if the book is a little lackluster. All in all, this is the type of book that would make a good beach read: entertaining enough to keep your interest without too much brain power being expended.
I was given the opportunity to listen to this book by the narrator and chose to review it.

Easy listen mystery
This is the first book I’ve read/listened to by this author. This genre is not really my usual listen, but I was entertained. This is a very easy, uncomplicated, mystery style story. There are not really clues along they way so the listener can deduce the culprit, rather there are reveals.
Dr. Kelly backs her vehicle up one morning to find she’s bumped up against a dead man lying on her driveway. Her lawyer husband, Jack, seems a bit distant to her lately, and she was already concerned for their relationship. Now that her husband is considered a possible suspect in this man’s murder, he seems to be even more distant from her. Problem is, things are getting dangerous for them- someone seems to be out for Jack. She questions what’s the truth. Who is really responsible?
This is the fourth book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Bill Nevitt ) and I would listen to another. He does well giving each character a voice. His style does not make me feel like I’m being read to. He speaks clearly so I can easily listen at 1.5-1.75x speed.
There are no explicit sex scenes, excessive violence or swearing.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and voluntarily left this unbiased review.

Captivating Quick Listen
Great mystery suspense with lots of questions around every corner. What starts as a normal day for Kelly and her husband quickly turns into a variable who done it as she tries to figure out if her husband is responsible for the dead body in her driveway or not.

Emergency Case
This was a great mystery, not exactly a who done it, but still a mystery with a murder, well a few murders. Kelly a doctor, knew her husband, Jack, had been acting odd but figured they would get through it. But when she hit a bump backing out of her garage only to find it is a dead guy and a client of her husbands, things get real interesting real fast.
This book is full of action, suspense, and I am not sure if the author meant it to be or if it is just my background but there where some funny parts too. If you want a book that keeps you guessing this is the one for you, as it will certainly keep you guessing until the end. If you are like me and choose the audio version than you are in for a treat as Bill Nevitt is a wonderful narrator and will keep you listening a lot longer than you planned. His different voices for the different characters will have you believing they are there with you telling you their story. This book is a fun read or listen which ever you choose you won't go wrong.

An intriguing story line!
I was pleased to receive a free copy from Bill Nevitt, via TBC audible, in return for a review. The story line really intrigued me. A Medical thriller, something I haven’t read for quite a few years. And with a Cristian slant. Well, this was a new experience.
How to start the day.... run over a dead man, as you reverse out of the drive, on your way to work. It starts with a bang and hardly lets up. There’s a lot packed into this novella. The first time I’ve heard Richard l Maybry’s writing or Bill Nevitt’s distinctive narration and I don’t think it’ll be the last.

Emergency its a crime not to listen to
This was a nice easy to follow long thriller. It was quite short but still enjoyable and good if you have a few hours to fill in and hate stopping in the middle of a story.
Jack is a lawyer who gets talked, against his better judgment,in to taking on a shady client and then things go down hill from there for him and his doctor wife. What was a simple case snowballs into dead bodies, missing guns, car crashes and becoming suspects themselves. With the police questioning there every move and not sure who to trust the couple have to come together to stay a live.
The narrator was very good and the couple of hours just flew by in a blink as it was very well read .

Catch 22.
As an attorney, Jack Harbaugh is obliged to disclose information that could potentially lead to a crime, but doing so could put his life and the lives of his friends and colleagues, in danger. On the other hand, if he keeps the information to himself, he is breaking the law, yet still under threat from the thugs. What to do??
His wife is a doctor and she is growing increasingly worried about her husband's behaviour. He seems distracted, not himself, is there something she should know? Then she reverses out of her driveway and over a dead body, which brings everything to a head.
This was a novella length who-done-it, which entertained me for several hours on a flight recently. The narration, by Bill Nevitt is clear and easy to follow. I would have preferred a full novel, where I can get to know the characters a bit better, but this was still entertaining and to the point.
3.5 stars.

Quick mystery that keeps you engaged.
Attorney Jack Harbough is defending a man on a minor drug charge. When his client gives information about a gun running operation, Jack is torn between attorney-client privilege and his duty as an officer of the court. A few days later, that client shows up in Jack’s driveway...under his wife’s car...shot dead. Now Jack’s life is in danger...and possibly that of his wife. If only the police would believe Jack...after all, Jack’s gun IS the murder weapon. There is so much going on in this short book that you’re at the edge of your seat wondering what’s next? Will the bad guys succeed in killing Jack? Will the police believe that Jack is telling the truth? Will Jack’s wife stand by his side?
Enjoyable book and equally enjoyable narration.

Quick easy listen
This was a quick, easy listen. It is a murder mystery but for me both the plot and characters weren't developed enough to keep me fully interested. I'm glad I listened to the Audible version though because Bill Nevitt's narration was a joy to listen to, and I will seek out other books narrated by him.

Entertaining
I enjoyed listening to this cosy mystery, which was quick and entertaining. The plot line was a little predictable, but the dialogue was humorous and narration quite lively.

Easy Listening
An easy to listen to mystery thriller, finished in an afternoon. Nothing too challenging but entertaining all the same, a good way to fill a few empty hours.
