Publisher's Summary

Divorce lawyer Victoria Slade has seen enough unhappy endings to swear off marriage forever. That doesn't mean she's opposed to casual dating - just not with her cocky new neighbor, who is as gorgeous and tempting as he is off-limits. But once she agrees to take on his sister's case, she's as determined to win as ever - even if that means teaming up with Ford....

Investigative journalist Ford Dixon is bent on finding the man who got his sister pregnant and left her high and dry. He's willing to partner with Victoria, despite the fact that the beautiful brunette gets under his skin like no other woman. Still, the more time he spends with Victoria, the more he realizes that the one woman as skeptical about love as he is might be the only woman he could really fall for....

The Narrator Killed this Story for me

What did you love best about Suddenly One Summer?

I liked that the characters acted like real people.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Suddenly One Summer?

When Ford was genuinely concerned with Victoria's fainting on the train.

What didn’t you like about Karen White’s performance?

I truly liked the story but the narrator, killed the story because she didn't sound like a 30 something lady. She did well with the other characters in the book but when she did the main character, Victoria, I could only imagine a 50 something lady and I could not shake that image throughout the book.

Fun snarky sexy

The sex was hot, really hot. This narrator did a great job there was a scene with a doctor that was tense and I even started to cry I really got into it

Narrator spoiled it

I think I could have enjoyed the story in written form or with a different narrator. Narrator tended to overdramatize and didn't do well with male voices. It was hard to really like and identify with the characters, but I think that was partly because of the narration.

Ohhhh how I loved this book!!!

To start with I felt like the story touched up on points so close to me that it was scary. I could identify with this book more than ever before as I am sure most other readers will as well. The terminology, street names, the subway blue line and finally her anxiety attacks whilst not wanting to draw any attention to herself since she was well known in her field. So perhaps at this point I'm biased but I felt the characters were well developed and the love progression seemed quite reasonable. Can't go wrong with this book.

A little disappointed

Not her best book. Loved all her previous books. Hardly any of her usual humor and more whining

Love all Julie James books!

Would you listen to Suddenly One Summer again? Why?

I have listened to it again. I listened to the entire series, again even before I listened to this the first time. Just fun.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Suddenly One Summer?

I loved the part when Victoria saw Ford with the co-worker and realized her feelings.

Have you listened to any of Karen White’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Karen White is one of my all time favorite narrators. All the books are great.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely!

Any additional comments?

I have favorite characters in each book. Of all Jordan and Nick would be first but Victoria and Ford are up ther too. Julie James just needs to write faster because it's hard to wait for the next book.

Horrible narration!

Loved the story. Hated the narrator. Worst one ever. Very choppy speech pattern. Made it painful to listen but I loved the story line. Will avoid books with this narrator in the future.
