Publisher's Summary

From best-selling author Natasha Stories.

Erin Timms took a new job as a veterinarian in Sunshine, Colorado, for two important reasons: to get away from her ex, and to give herself a chance at a new life. But when devastating news of her ex follows her there, she begins to think she has made a terrible mistake.

Tall, stunning-looking Jon Miles had only one goal: to save the mountain canyon where Sunshine is located from businessmen who want to exploit it. But how can he do that when he is already an outcast?

There was nothing to suggest they’d ever meet, much less strike a spark of red-hot romance. Except that Erin can never turn away a stray....

Great narration, a bit too much happening though

Stray has all the makings of a fantastic book. I think the storyline had a bit too much going on. Sierra Kline and Jeffrey Kafer. They were fantastic together and really had some good chemistry! Both voices were so expressive. I was incredibly impressed with Sierra Kline. She portrayed all of Erin’s feelings perfectly.

Cute Tail of love in small town

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Overall I felt the book was pretty well written. It has a lot of different things going on from heartaches, corporate takeovers, small town drama/rumormills, land development, grudges (local vs tourists) and lots of love drama. Of course we also can't forget about MAX the dog...he is also in the book a lot and who can't enjoy a book with a main character that is a dog :)

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

The ending felt a little rushed, after all the buildup suddenly it was all over. I would have liked to have seen a little more resolution before things worked out. I did like the epilogue and how things worked out there but the resolution in the chapter(s) before that felt rushed.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

I liked the female narrator but the male narrator wasn't my favorite. I've listened to him in other stories but I don't think he fit the part as well in this book.

Any additional comments?

I was given this book by the author, narrator or publisher in exchange for my unbiased review through AudioBoom.

Sweet and Sexy "Tail"

This was a story that hinted at a lot of intrigue, but turned out to be a sweet story with some very noble characters. I enjoyed both the storyline and the characters. Sierra Kline has an incredibly versatile and sexy voice that is well-suited to this story. I enjoyed her narration immensely. Jeffery Kafer's performance was not as versatile or sexy, but didn't do anything to detract from the story, so I'm not complaining. overall, a really good audiobook!

Stray

I have mixed feelings about this story and its characters. It worked because it has a plot, intrigue and conflict, characters that I liked and some I wanted to smack into next Sunday. I liked Jon, despite him doing some questionable things, I felt sorry for him after finding out his backstory, the guy couldn't get a break. He gets quite a few shocks in a short time. And the dog... Max was great, glad Erin was able to save him.
There was a lot of drama, a bit much for my taste, small town gossip and entitled rich girls but I guess it added to the conflict in the story. Erin didn't help either, she is not among my faves either, a bit wimpy and a lot gullible. I am not a fan of weak female leads.

Mr. Kafer is among my fave narrators and it is always a pleasure to listen to. Love the voices, Jon and especially Doc. My first listen from Ms. Kline who for the most part did ok and had some good variations for the many characters, I found that for Erin some parts sounded overdone to me or overly soft for the situation.

I loved it!

This book was so much more than I expected. I loved the premise of this story and found myself pulled in by the stray Golden Retriever (Max) and Erin (Vet) and Jon. The book has many facets from lost love, need to heal, redemption, new love, corporate takeover, water rights, tourist vs. local residents, land development, grudges, and happiness. My review is not a synopsis of the book, but rather my opinion of it. This book was given to me for free at my request and I have provided this voluntary review. Both narrators did a very good performance with this book and they each put so much emotion into it. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and both narrators.

Ecology, Mountain ski slopes, Abandonment, Disloyalty

Erin, a vet moved to a small Colorado town to escape her ex who broke her heart. Hoping to begin a new life and perhaps buy into an existing clinic.
Jon spent part of his youth in this same small Colorado town, owner of a development company. Erin and Jon meet when he brings in an injured dog, Max.
Attraction, animal rights, ecology, hostile take overs, abandonment, loyalty, relationship manipulations, and friendship.
The story has action, suspense, hot sex, questions of using people for your own gain and what is ethical and what is moral. What effects our actions have on those we have in our lives.
The narrators were good, the male perhaps a bit harsh sounding and sometimes the female over the top,,,but both had emotions and timing that added to the story.

Save the town that hates you. . .

This was a listen that surprised me and delighted me all at the same time. I got more from Erin and her strength and convictions. I found something to look for in Jon. The dynamics of the town-folks and the resort people was interesting enough to have you wanting to know how it all went down. The narrators did justice for this read and kept me hanging on to the very last words.

Both narrator did a good job. I found the audio to be smooth and complementary to the story.

2 Souls and a Dog, Seeking Love and Redemption!

2 Souls and a Dog, Seeking Love and Redemption!
This is a standalone, HEA, NO cliffhangers!

Content Warning: This has SEX! So if you do not like that sort of stuff, then you should avoid.

♥ Story ♥
I think just about every character in this story is a stray in one way or another. The story takes place in a small town with a touristy vibe. There is deep history that is at the root of things. A lot of closets to shake out skeletons.

Theo Miles is the one who betrayed the town, but his son Jon is the one paying the price. He has inherited his father’s shares of the company and wants to undo the wrongs to prevent more damage to the local area. He knows it’s not going to be easy, but things get tricky as the secrets start to spill out.

Erin is trying to make her dreams come true, despite her current and past set backs. She is trying to save up to buy the vet clinic she works for, but the boss’s daughter is trying her patience and making her question her decisions. Jon brings an injured stray to Erin at the clinic and all of their lives are forever changed, including the dog.

The large number of subplots are a doubled edged sword to me. They are set up, explained, then solved, nothing is left unanswered. I just need more! Just a little bit, to make it feel complete. Its not a biggie kind of issue, it just keeps it from being a five stars listen for me. I’m going to forever wonder about Minerva’s health and if Maharajah is ever found. Not to mention the question poised at the end as to how. Can’t really say more but when you get to the epilogue, you’ll know what I’m talking about. Doesn’t change the outcome of anything, it just perplexes the mind!

♥ Author ♥
This was my first listen by Natasha Stories, and won’t be my last. Great characters. Max totally stole the show!

♥ Narrator(s) ♥
Jeffrey Kafer was great. Both with voices as well as the general story narration. He is an excellent performer with a long list of titles. This is not my first, nor my last. Several of his titles are on my wish-list.

This was my first listen by Sierra Kline. She was great at evoking the emotions. I would listen to more titles performed by her.

♥ Audio Production ♥
The original speed was not consistent. Some chapters seemed slow with others being a bit too fast. I ended up settling at 1.05 speed. Don’t be afraid to experiment.

My Thoughts on Stray

This book had a lot of firsts for me. First time reading a book from this author. First audio with Jeffrey Kafer. And first time experiencing a one 180 about a main character.

I found that for my first book by Natasha Stories it was a good one. It held my attention. It had good twists and character building. It was just a very enjoyable story and I want to check out more by her in future.

Both narrators did a great job, and this being my first audio by Jeffrey Kafer, I was very happy with it. I absolutely want to listen to more audio books by both of them.

While I ended up enjoying this book and the writing was really good, I wasn't sure if I was going to like the leading man at first. His behavior was so conflicting as to what his true character was as some of his actions seemed unforgivable. But I guess it's also the mark of a good author that by the end of the story I'd firmly landed on being a fan of him and felt he'd really redeemed himself.

A Wonderful love Story

Erin Timms finds herself starting her life over in the small town of Sunshine, Colorado. She’s a vet and after a breakup with her ex she’s left Dallas, Texas and is trying small town life, which as she comes to experience is very different. She encounters Jon Miles one evening when he brings a stray dog he’s just hit with his car, now Jon’s really hot. Every time Erin sees him she gets tongue tied, or rubbish comes of her month.
Jon is bowled over by Erin and is definitely interested. Unfortunately both parties have a lot of unresolved issues, which keeps them apart. So there lots of unresolved angst from Erin, which the Sierra brings to life all the emotion and especially Erin’s evening with BOB to life very realistically. Wow Jon voice is brought to life dripping with sex appeal by Jeffrey that has all the female listeners seat up and  take notice. The star of the story for me was Max the golden retriever who was the Stray in the title or was  he.

A little of everything!

What an interesting audiobook! Like an onion it has layer to its plot structure. The romance aspect of the story is fairly typical with the initial attraction and the several obstacles that need dealing with before the two protagonists can find their way to each other. However the story also includes a bit of humour, suspense, corporate-drama, small town dynamics, complex family relationships, several spoilt brats, a few interesting pets, conniving exes and several twists in the plot.

Erin Timms is a vet who, motivated by the need to get away from her awful ex, moves to the small town of Sunshine to act as a locum for the local vet. Jon Miles is forced to use her services when a dog is badly hurt in a collision with a car. The attraction is almost instantaneous but so is the suspicion. As it turns out Jon is part of the corporation that has over developed the mountains surrounding the town with ski resorts. More importantly the townspeople hate the resorts. Ever more importantly, there is a history of betrayal associated with the development and the townspeople have long memories.

Of course nothing is quite that simple. For instance Jon isn't just a part of the resort corporation, the relationships between the characters aren't as clear as it all seems, and the cat lady isn't as dotty as initially considered. Jon has to balance his new found attraction to Erin with his long term corporate strategy. Decisions need to be made and realised before Erin and Jon can even consider their HEA.

Overall, I enjoyed listening to this audiobook. It is brimming with details that quickly carry the audience from start to finish.
