Publisher's summary

Imagine being the only human left on an Earth occupied by monsters, aliens, and worse. Sounds terrible? Well . . . it's not so bad when you are an introverted battle junkie like me.

Honestly, I was almost starting to appreciate being left behind while everyone else was given the chance to prepare for the mess Earth had gotten itself into. On a side note, it turns out I'm pretty good at hunting monsters. Though dragons and such are a bit out of my league. Just a bit.

I survived dozen-something kobolds that wanted me dead, and now it's time to pay back their leader. Unfortunately for the poor doggies, I have made some allies. Allies they're gonna hate.

There's just one tiny detail that bothers me. My talking cat companion is hiding something. Something big. Something that has the potential to make deadly monsters the least of my worries . . .

semi-unique

liked the story, the MC occasionally lacks depth or initiative and then makes up for it with a spurt of action. good progression and some fun scenes.

downside... I think the author needs an editor that can catch his lapses is tense whether past or present and maybe help with some of the math that isn't math.

upside: it was better than the first book in some of the structure, also we finally learn a little bit more about their brand of system and such.

I'll probably check volume three if it gets released just to see if there is an improvement, that and I like cats.

I Don't Like It. (SPOILERS AHEAD)

The story's fine, narrator no problem. No the problem I have with the book is the what I consider excessive plot twist that disturbed even my calm as the reader.

To die for the only person you ever loved, and then be brought back as her little brother; which means you're taking away someone she loved as well. Then tie it in a bow with you're alternate reality/ future daughter having kept this from you and have hints that she killed you.
That's WAY too much for a final 10 minutes of a book, and frankly crushes my spirit. The dude died, then fought to live for someone, and you took that possibility and shat it into a black hole.
I like action, intrigue, fantasy, and all that go into a good book. But, I hate when you ruin a good romance.
I hope something good happens in the next installment because I personally don't like stories were the mc had nothing to look forward to and just struggles for the sake of it.

great story

it's a great story but, honestly I hate the MC he's such an immature pansy. he's 20 years old and still saying kitty and doggy and daddy. he cries and whines and has no balls to question people when he doesn't trust them. I had hoped in this book he would grow up a bit. I honestly don't know if I'll even bother with book three if it ever comes out. The truth is it's a shame because all the other aspect of the book are amazing. just can't stand an MC that is so immature.

Big Reveals

So many twists happened at the end of the book that may make the main character have a completely different view on life in the next book. The story up until all the big twists reveals was quite enjoyable, and I hope for the sake of the mc and his allies that next book the mc will recover. This book was a nice progression battle of a dungeon while developing friendly relationships with those helping him. The twists at the end do make it continuing as a comedic, fun, and sometimes happy story be difficult, but hope to see more of this.

terribly written

not only is the author long-winded but he has a horrible sense of storytelling don't waste your money on this one and to put a cherry on top of this the audio production wasn't done very well the audio is inconsistent

Slow and needy

The story is just slow. It’s has the feeling of just hanging there most of the time. Side characters are just an other tool to drag things out and add badly written emotional baggage. Seriously 2 books in a beginner dungeon(which he literally starts in) and most of the way through this one and he's only made it to the first floor.
