Starblind presents us a universe where humans are not the only species on it. Jane Sevis, a bounty hunter, is looking for a place to belong. Missing an Earth she never knew, she surrounds herself with old antics from a no longer existing planet.

HEA with no cliffhanger!

This series is only 4 books long and is heavily connected by characters and overall story arc so I recommend reading the books in order. It is not only more enjoyable that way, but you will miss out on a lot of details if you read them out of order.

♥ Story ♥

Starblind takes place in the future many years after the original earth was destroyed. On New Earth, being “just human” is no longer good enough! Genetic DNA splicing is how babies are made in this new world. When children are old enough, they are tested, rated, and classified by ability.

Each book has a different couple as a main focus, but there is so much more to these tales! The characters at the center of the Starblind Series are rebels and dreamers, determined to buck the system of what is expected for what is adventurous.

Jane is a Hybrid Human and the owner and captain of The Pittsburgh. Her personality is snarky, rude, impulsive, and totally works for her chosen profession as a bounty hunter. The story starts with Jane in pursuit of one of those bounties, which goes wrong quickly.

Jane wants a fresh start and to be something more than what the tests say she can be. She tested out as a normal human, Species Class 1 out of 4. Most are expected to be Class 2 or 3, so this didn’t leave her many options, friends, or family on New Earth. That’s Harsh! So much for unconditional love in the future!

Ash is Species Class 4, and you will have to listen for yourself to find out what makes him so special! He is the fly in Jane’s ointment when it comes to her bounties. His level of snark and mischief give Jane’s a run for their money! Ash knows there are secrets to be had when it comes to Jane, even if she doesn’t know them herself. The interactions between these 2 are hot and angsty.

The Pittsburgh is basically the headquarters of the story. It has become home for Jane and her 3 crew members. Zula, Jane’s #2, is a Galvraron which are known for their high IQs. Tamzea, ship medic, is a Mazatimz which are known for their empathic and healing abilities. Masha, ship engineer, is a Guaviva which are known for their ability to ‘speak’ to anything electronic.

Each of these females are also looking for a do-over and have sorted histories of their own. All of which I look forward to learning as the series continues.

The Starblind series is a page turner and I can’t wait to listen to the next in the series, Parallax (Tamzea’s story). I can’t really comment more without spoiling something. And trust me, I have a bunch of comments to make, but you will have to go over to the Read Along With Me for it, to be posted soon.

Good space romance

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yeah, I would if I found somebody with a similar interests. I don't know many people who enjoy scifi unfortunately.

What about Ashley Holt’s performance did you like?

She had a very soothing voice, that made the characters interesting and easy to listen to. Some narators are over the top, my favorites are ones that make me get engulfed in the story, and that's exactly what happened here.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not that I can remember, but I've never cried listening to a book.

I enjoyed the book, I love scifi books and it was something different to have romance in one. It wasn't a super in depth novel, but it was a fun romp.

Cute!

I laughed so hard. Jane is a human from New Earth. At some point humans learned they weren't alone and even worse less superior to beings from other planets. Earth became New Earth and they started splicing human DNA with various DNA from other beings. I loved how the author did that, very clever. I'm a biology geek so the sciency stuff hit my chord and was fun because it was sound enough to be probable.

Jane is the captain of the Pittsburg, a space ship and she's a bounty hunter. She has a small crew, loves steampunk and is very independent. She also has a nasty attitude at times. Anyways, she on the hunt for a large bounty placed on the head of a man who is also quit a hunk and turns out something more than human.

It's a romance but also has an excellent plot and depth of characters. I loved this one even more than book 3. I blame that on the main character. She is too funny and stubborn. I can't give anything away. You have to read it!

Sex in space

I was given this audiobook for free in exchange for an unbiased review.

This is more romance than sci-fi, but does have an interesting light space opera story behind it. Like most sci-fi there are some strange plot holes that aren't explained...but this isn't what you read to get your hard sci-fi fix. l

The romance is not a delicate slow burn, the sex scenes start early and in full detail. There are many strong beefcake men with smirks and "hard ropey muscles" and all of them think they know more than the sexy, quirky, brash protagonist. They are often right, but she is no quitter.

The narrator had a soothing voice and good pacing. Easy to listen to, but sometimes it was difficult to tell the difference between characters and sometimes seemed to have a tone of amused disdain when it didn't really fit with the words.

I love the story. Jane is a kick ass female character. Ash!! Oh Ash!!! He had me in flames from his first sentence. Love the book can't wait to start the next one

Generally a great read

If you could sum up Starblind in three words, what would they be?

Generally a great reading of a fun book. Felt a bit lost a few times but otherwise enjoyed very much. I received this audio book free in exchange for an unbiased review

Not my cup of tea

The book has some promising world building but I was expecting more of a sci-fi epic and less or a romance novel set in space.

The narrator was great. Sometimes had trouble differentiating between male and female characters, but her pacing and tone were perfect throughout.

A Starblinding spellbinging romance

This book by D.T Dyllin is not full of of syrupy romance and dreamy sighs. But if is full of real romance and a tug at your lips at their interactions which I think is better and more realistic for us here in the real world to aspire to.
I liked Jane her intelligence and her strong personality. I admired the fact that she wants to do good by everyone around her and that she tries to mend her flaws. She became an oddly organic person, beautifully encapsulated through the integrity to her own heart and moral code.and the cat and mouse with her quarry is a real joy to listen to.Don't expect this book to suddenly be a complex piece of literature, because surely it is not. It fits in its own little lovely box. so it's one for the heart. It's 100% drama and teen romance. It's light. It's quick. It's totally YA. It's a great read for a spring afternoon. It's the kind of book that has you smiling, daydreaming and relaxing. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.As always this is my honest opinion .Ashley Holt Her enactment, tempo, and changing speech patterns for each individual is distinct and engaging. I do not believe the print version is any less compared to the audiobook but I will say Ashley adds a new dimension to the novel that cannot be appraised enough and would suggest to any reader to give the audio version a try.

Fiery romance and adventure mixed

D. T. Dyllin has crafted a well-written book with great pacing, it will keep you listening and wanting to hear the next chapter even if you should be doing something else. Some romance stories are lacking in character personality, story or the setting but not here both the story and the setting were interesting and the characters have depth, personality, backgrounds and their own motivations,

I would like to see more of this setting and to find out what happens next in this story. If you like space adventures and/or romance you should find something in this story for you.

The narration by Ashley Holt is solid and fits Captain Jane Sevis the main character personality perfectly. Each of the other characters also has a unique voice and there is no difficulty working out who is talking, how they are feeling or if they are being sarcastic or the like.

My one gripe with this book is how many things are a laser something, laser bars, laser cuffs and the like but I think most people will not mind it

There is romance, fire, passion, conflict, and adventure to be found in this book if that sound of interest to you then this is the book for you.

All and all a fun story that has more depth than you might expect. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it.
