For months, Kantor and Twohey had been having confidential discussions with top actresses, former Weinstein employees, and other sources, learning of disturbing long-buried allegations. But nothing could have prepared them for what followed the publication of their Weinstein story. Story
Body cams and dashcams have fundamentally transformed law enforcement in recent years. These innovations can help prove someone committed a crime, or didn't. Real-life footage has cleared people initially accused of wrongdoing, and in certain instances even implicated officers. But that same type of footage can also be used to clear police falsely accused of misdeeds. From allegations of harassment or bias to false arrests or even criminal conduct, these videos can prove officers did not cross a line as, sometimes, they are alleged to have done.

On September 11, 2018, Navy SEAL Chief Edward Gallagher - a highly-decorated combat veteran with nine deployments to war zones in Africa, Afghanistan, and Iraq - was arrested for war crimes at the TBI medical clinic where he was receiving treatment. His incarceration was the culmination of a year-long whisper campaign started by a group of disgruntled members of his SEAL platoon. While heavily covered in the media, the full story of how a war hero was railroaded and nearly sent to prison for life for crimes he didn't commit has never been told.

Story
We all think we are compassionate just like we all think we are honest. But true compassion is not innate. Compassion for others, especially those that we don’t know or understand, must be learned. Our lack of compassion is perhaps most extreme in the exercise of criminal justice, where a person’s entire life, worth, and character are judged through the myopic lens of a single act. But no one, says Robin Steinberg, should be reduced to their worst moment. From the founder and CEO of The Bail Project, The Courage of Compassion unveils how we can reimagine justice through compassion.

Seven-year-old little girls love their daddy. Kathy was no exception, so when her daddy started paying “special” attention to her, she felt “special” in turn. Her daddy loved her.
Few betrayals run as deep as the betrayal of being sexually abused throughout your childhood by the man you should have been able to trust with your life. For Kathy, the betrayal ran deeper because when she finally found the courage to start speaking out about what her abuser did to her, her family responded by labeling her a liar and a troublemaker. Kathy didn’t stop speaking out, though.

In Being Oscar, one of America’s most celebrated criminal defense attorneys recounts the stories and cases of his epic life. The Mafia’s go-to defender, he has tried an estimated 300 criminal cases, and won most of them. His roster of clients reads like a history of organized crime: Meyer Lansky, Nicky Scarfo, and "Lefty" Rosenthal, as well as Mike Tyson and boxing promoter Don King, along with a midget, a dentist, and a federal judge. After 35 years as a defender, he ran for mayor of Las Vegas, and America’s greatest Mob lawyer became the mayor of its sexiest city.

Publisher's summary
On February 8, 2006, Frank Vetro, the young, popular principal of a school in Eastern Long Island, saw his life dramatically altered. On that day, he was arrested and effectively labeled a terrorist hiding under the guise of a New York educator. Standing on principal details what lead to his arrest, nights in jail, court proceedings, and subsequent fight to clear his name, as the alleged scandal reached the national limelight. Frank exposes the rogue individuals who caused the destruction of his life as he was forced from his home, into a life of poverty. It's a real-life story of deception and scandal. A story of sex, lies, and audiotape. A story of a corrupt system that underestimated the tenacious character of a proud man who refused to be intimidated by a political machine. This is Frank Vetro's story, but in the blink of an eye it could be yours. And that should scare the hell out of everyone.

Story
The death of promising young pediatric AIDS researcher Eric Miller stunned the Raleigh, North Carolina, community, largely because of the horrific way he was killed. For months, Eric was slowly tortured as arsenic consumed his body. No one thought that Eric Miller's wife, Ann - an attractive, demure, educated scientist - could be capable of such a horrible crime. No one except for veteran homicide investigator Chris Morgan, a man in the twilight of his career. But from the moment Morgan saw the 30-year-old widow in the police department interview room, he knew he was seeing pure evil.

Amazing!!!
The printed version of “Standing on Principal” was an amazing read but hearing it told through the author’s voice is absolutely phenomenal. Just like I could not stop turning the pages of his book I could not stop listening to him recount his life’s story in audio. Buckle up your seatbelt though because you will be taken on a rollercoaster ride of emotions as you are drawn in by his honesty and heartbreak in the retelling. The injustice is palpable as it snowballs through each chapter. You not only hear but feel his frustration, righteous anger and pain, as well as his relentless spirit to overcome. If you want a great book to listen to this is the one. You will not be disappointed!
