Lara Bricker is a crime writer and former private detective. She has been writing and reporting on crime and justice issues since 1998. Her work has appeared in the Portsmouth Herald, the Exeter News-Letter, the Hampton Union, the New Hampshire Union Leader, Woman's World magazine, and The Boston Globe. In 2008, she covered the first death penalty case to go to trial in New Hampshire in almost fifty years for the Associated Press.
She is the author of the true crime book Lie After Lie: The True Story of a Master of Deception, Betrayal and Murder, which chronicles the case of a former radio talk show host who poisoned his wife with antifreeze. She has appeared on the Investigation Discovery Channel show "The Perfect Murder" to discuss the case profiled in the book.
As a news reporter, she has received numerous awards from both the New Hampshire Press Association and the New England Newspaper & Press Association for her crime and investigative reporting.
Lara then spent 7 years working as a criminal defense investigator in New Hampshire. During that time she investigated cases ranging from assaults to drug deals to homicides as part of a defense team.
