Perfect

This was amazing. Main character was smart, progression was perfectly paced, wonderful balance of grinding and new/interesting. One of my new favorites and I’ll be super excited for future books!

Enjoyable take on VR MMo trope

Enjoyable and promising start to a series. I liked how the main characters was part of group, and was unconventional in his approach.

Will be known for boars. A top 3 VR story

I've listened to many litrpg stories. VR-based stories aren't among my favorite, but this is easily one of the top three. Another would be Ready Player One.

The MC is a senior teen who wants to be a doctor. But the near future is kinda boring due to AI and nanobot advances. There's not as much call for doctors. Most money and entertainment is in VR Gaming. His estranged dad is a famous VR Gamer who left him and mom years ago. A friend of the MC convinces him to try one of the VR games he's been avoiding. And he likes it. He does a lot of reading in the forums and analyzes one story that no-one believes and figures out a possible experience exploit involving pacifism.

And then he gets killed by a boar.

I liked the story. All the characters are fun and believable. There isn't anything cringy. The whole build up is believable. Every character acts believably, and the major players are all intelligent and realistic. The combats are fun. The "real world" has fun characters acting in various desperate ways. The VR world is set up well. The story builds to a mammoth climax with perhaps the best quest denial in the genre -- and the even larger response triggered by that leads to the title: Spiteful Healer. One of the best extended sequences in the genre.

Minor nitpick -- a few boring tasks, such as waiting in line for an hour, or tanking a slow and repetitive fight for an hour, or flying on an airship for a week -- breeze by in a few paragraphs, which is fine. But the VR audience for these events is really high.

Highly recommended.

Great start to the series

I’m not much for VRMMO, but this is a great series. Super fun and the very end was pretty exciting… Can not wait for the next one.
