Story
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Hank is a thug. He knows he's a thug. He has no problem with that realization. In his view the galaxy has given him a gift: a mutation that allows him to withstand great deals of physical trauma. He puts his abilities to the best use possible and that isn't by being a scientist. Besides, the space station Belvaille doesn't need scientists. It is not, generally, a thinking person's locale. It is the remotest habitation in the entire Colmarian Confederation. There is literally no reason to be there.

Publisher's Summary
Suicide Squad meets Galaxy Quest, in this fast-paced, laugh-out-loud novel from the author the Independent calls, "the new Terry Pratchett." After saving an alien race and its god from a sentient zombie virus, Cal Carver and the crew of the Dread Ship Shatner are feeling pretty pleased with themselves. Unfortunately, the creator of the zombie virus is out for revenge, and has recruited the galaxy's deadliest - and oldest - assassin, Lady Vajazzle, to hunt Space Team down. But when Vajazzle discovers the crew is under the protection of a wolf-like species known as the Greyx, she is forced to implement a Plan B so diabolical it threatens to plunge the entire star system into chaos. With time running out, Cal must find a way to outmaneuver and outgun the galaxy's greatest killer before she murders his friends, butchers the Greyx, and buys the whole galaxy a one-way ticket to total annihilation.

Much, much, MUCH better than...
I don't know this jewel of a series has not been more widely recognized for its brilliance!
Anyone who enjoyed the movie or show "Serenity" will heartily enjoy the adventures of Captain Cal Carver and his Space Team.
Suspend disbelief, turn down the critical voice in your head and let yourself get lost in the lovable, oh-so-cheesy, entertaining banter provided by Mr. Hutchison and his characters.
Give it a shot and give it a thumbs up for not taking itself too seriously (I'm talking to Alerón Kong here), making us laugh, and still providing a great story.

Hilarious
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This book hilarious! I was laughing so hard I cried.
Any additional comments?
I would recommend this for fans of Guardians of the Galaxy and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Smartass and sometimes clueless lead character makes for many funny situations. The narrator does an excellent job of bringing the characters to life. Highly recommend giving this one a listen. I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

your mileage may vary
I listened to this book immediately after the first. In hindsight, I think that was a mistake. The jokes and situations get kinda old, and you start thinking...just get on with it. The plot felt thinner than the first. The ending made very little logical sense, except that it allowed more witty banter.
I think I would have found it just as fun as the first, if I had allowed a month or two to pass. So, is it worth the credit...eh. I would suggest letting some time pass between this book and the first.

Fun lighthearted adventure.
This is the second book in the Space Team series by Barry Hutchison. It's a fun lighthearted space adventure. At times I think it tries a bit too hard to be funny, but overall it's an enjoyable tale.
Phil Thron does a spectacular job narrating the book. I find it hard to believe he only has a handful of titles here on Audible. He sounds like a true profession, as if he's been doing voice for for years, and I hope this is just an indication that he's just getting started on his book narration career and we'll be seeing many more titles from this talented artist.

More Space Hilarity
These books are uber enjoyable... Like it's predecessor, this one will have you chuckling often, and at frequent times laughing out loud... It's silly, bit juvenile, super nerdy, and all the better for it!! I love how it takes so many different fandoms and makes it work... gather large portions of Star Trek, Hitchhiker's, Guardians of the Galaxy, then throw in some dashes of Firefly, Monty Python, and Pratchett, followed by a pinch or two of Star Wars Then mix thoroughly... Frivolous fun at it's best;). Great characters and performance... Splurt is awesome and can't wait to see how he gets fonking space rescued in the next book...

Sci-Fi with an unusual character
This is a fast-paced story with a character who seems have a snide remark or a great retort all the time. It is like having the late Robin Williams on the Spaceship "Shatner." I found it great fun, witty, and this part of the story is only the beginning. If you like comedy with your Sci-Fi, you will love this book.

Great fun!
Would you consider the audio edition of Space Team: The Wrath of Vajazzle to be better than the print version?
pace Team: The Wrath of Vajazzle by Barry J. Hutchison is book two but can be read without having to have read book one first. It is a crazy, weird, bizarre, and fun book that must have been written while on drugs or the reader needs to be while reading! This is one of the strangest books I have read but somehow I liked it! What does that say about me? It had all kinds of crazy creatures, a goofy but loveable (sort of) human, equally not likable but likable companions on the ship, and a robot that is the strangest robot I have ever hear of. Their adventure is even stranger. Some of this book I smiled at, some I just groaned, other parts I smirked, and others I just shook my head. I did enjoy it. The narration was ok but forced I think to try to make it better but I think it was good on its own. I think the narration took something away. Not sure what would have been better but I don't think the narration fit all the way. It was just "ok". I was given the audio to listen/read and the review was voluntary. I enjoyed the book itself and probably would have enjoyed it more just reading it.
What aspect of Phil Thron’s performance would you have changed?
Sounds like he is trying too hard to make it funny.

Worst pilot ever.
Any additional comments?
A comedy science fiction story, rather than a sci fi story with comedy: very different. And whilst it has the potential to be a very funny film, given excellent actors playing it for real (as opposed to for laughs as there is sufficient built into the text already, for example the astonishingly bad piloting of Lauren, able to accidentally land on the only building within a thousand miles of desert), I did not enjoy it as a book.
This was by no means the fault of narrator Phil Thorn, who read flawlessly with good intonation and understanding, and expression of the text as well as giving individual and differentiated voices to the various protagonists. A good performance, although I did increase the listening speed to 1.25, finding his pace just a tad too slow.
The book is well written and immaginative in content. If near slapstick humour is your thing, this is probably for you. Sadly, it did not appeal to me. My thanks, however, to the rights holder who freely gifted me a copy of the book, via Audiobook Boom.

Loving the Series
Another great listen, and an amazing narrator. A-team, Star trek and Red Dwarf rolled into one great listen.

Great 2nd outing.
Though these books are shorter than I’d like they are great fun tales. Cals sheer lack of understanding the galactic world he’s been thrust into and him trying to make sense of it using tv sci-fi really makes it.

Awesome
So I got these on a bit of a whim. I do that sometimes. And I have to say it’s just right. The character are a little 2D and comical but that’s what I was looking for. There is the tiniest bit of sexual content but tiny tiny. And it’s also serious but only enough to set up the next joke. It’s pretty much perfect. Good solid sci fi tropes with good solid humour. Buying the next and I’ll keep going until it gets repetitive which after listening to book one and then two it’s not. I’ll let you know after I finish book three. It’s downloading as we chat. This is chatting I didn’t know if you knew. Anyway must dash see you soon.
