Publisher's summary

Witty and elusive Eugenia Snowe has all society begging for one of her premiere governesses - except the powerful Edward Reeve, who bursts into her office with his arrogant demands.

No question that Eugenia enjoys crossing wits with the brilliant inventor, but Ward wants far more than a governess. He wants Eugenia, and he'll stop at nothing to have her - including kidnapping.

Will Eugenia lose her heart in the most reckless gamble of her life, or will she discover the sweetest pleasure she's ever known?

All it will take is seven minutes.

Humor, history, suspence, sex... what fun!

This was my first Eloisa James romance, purchased because I saw an interview with her on CBS Sunday Morning in early February, 2017 and loved her attitude about romance novels. As a lover of Robyn Carr, Dianna Gabalton, Molly Harper, Jane Austin and other wonderful romance novelists, I thought an entirely different romance genre might be worth sampling.

I enjoyed this one so much, I immediately went to look for the other two novels in James' "Duchess by the Numbers" series. The humor sparkles, as does the wonderful plot which made me give a rat's arse about what happened to the characters. And, of course, the gentle erotica added to the entertainment value as well as the suspense and gentle tension.

For sheer romance, entertainment and just a bit of titillation in an historical setting and a classically romantic novel, I highly recommend "Seven Minutes in Heaven."

Overall Pretty Good

Eloisa James is a fun historical romance author, and I enjoyed this book very much. The only thing that was a little "meh" was that the narrator didn't use enough characterization in her voice of same-gendered characters, so it was difficult to know who was speaking from time to time when they were having a conversation. It didn't make me stop listening, but it was something I noticed.

Charming Story

Some of Eloisa James stories have more humor than others, this is one of them. I am surprised that some other reviewers complained about the children, I thought they added to the story. They are not the “typical” well-behaved kids, but I enjoy kids who are original and able to be themselves much better. I also liked how this story contained characters from prior stories & seemed to develop their characters in a believable way.

Bravo!!

As usual, Eloisa James has done a marvelous job! Her books always include well researched interesting facts along with colorful, relatable characters and, of course, much love and laughter. Susan Duerden does an excellent job narrating as well. She provides the perfect regal touch and her timing and character impersonations are impeccabled

Another winner!

Another fabulous Eloisa James book!

I love the way Eloisa writes dialogue. Especially for children. They were delightful.

I had forgotten that Ward was engaged to Mia and sent to prison. The character crossover is one of the things I enjoy about these books. The Duke of Villiers is still a stunning gent!

Eugenia is another strong woman. Eloisa James gives us great characters. And this story was laugh out loud funny at times.

The audiobook narration was good but not perfect. A little too "breathy" for me. But I can't wait for the next one!

What a pleasurable way to pass the time!

After my first listen to Seven Minutes in Heaven I went back and listened to the entire series for a second time. I love Eloisa James's intelligence and sly wit. Susan Duerden's husky voice adds to the over all sensual qualities of James's writing and I truly appreciate her correct pronunciation of words that cause other readers to stumble.
Even though Seven Minutes in Heaven is said to be the final book of the series, I hope it isn't true and we get to hear more stories about individual members of these intertwining families.

Excellent story!

I enjoyed the story very much. The narrator seemed to whisper most of the conversation, making it difficult to understand.

shortest shallowness story of them all

there are times where the history of individuals is forgotten in this story such as with ward being the nephew of the duke of beumont etc. then in the next chapter it is remembered or that the grandmother is dead in one book but in this one is now miraculously alive again. other than those inconsistencies it is a good yet short story. I also don't like how much shorter this is and more vulgar. I prefer the deeper love stories with more substance like in the earlier books of this series.
