Publisher's Summary

Audie Award Finalist, Personal Development, 2014

Reknowned speaker, educator, author, activist and minister, Eric Thomas is rising to national prominence by delivering a high energy message that tells youth through first hand experience how to live up to their full potential and greatness and by breaking the cycles of crime, hopelessness and despair that many face daily. Known for his engagingly personal approach, his messages are both dynamic and inspiring. When coupled with his own cycle-breaking experience, his blunt essays on reality and remarkable ability to reach even the most jaded of minds, has helped thousands of youth nationwide become peak performers academically, spiritually and personally.

Eric has electrified audiences ranging from Fortune 500 companies to urban educators, collegiate athletic programs and inner-city youth development agencies with the message of his own life's struggles and the principles, insights and strategies he used to overcome them. Eric is no stranger to the ills that plague our communities as he was born in Chicago, IL and raised on the streets of Detroit, MI. His childhood and adolescent years were difficult, and his life struggles and personal identity issues were intensified because like so many, he did not establish a relationship with his biological father until his early thirties.

very inspiring

Very good listen, many great stories and analogies about life and what success means to each of us.

Good for teenagers...not for adults.

I think he is a very good speaker. Good confidence. However is teachings are for teenagers only....not for adults with children or even seperated parents or single parents. My own personal situation as a full time parent of 2 small boys.....I found it useless. Hopefully he will be around the 15 years from now. His situation was that he found out his dad wasn't his real dad....and then HE decided to go homeless. And some how he miraculously woke up. I smell BS.

Great 👍 Book. ET Keeps it Real!!!

Great book on perseverance and never giving up. You will hear a lot of no's throughout life but if you keep grinding you'll eventually get what you strive for.

Good book, disagree with some points

Really liked his story and the delivery was what made the book. Can hear his skills as a speaker come through the reading. Disagree with some of the later points in the book as he relies on wishing upon a star to become successful, in his case God. The hard work and dedication seems to become lost. Overall it was a good book and would recommend it to most people.

Inspired

A couple of days ago I was depressed beyond measure because I'm 35 and everyone else around me has seen real success. I saw myself as nothing but a failure with no real purpose.

This book has been my second wind, I'm motivated to get up and work, and keep working till I reach my dreams.

It as re-ignited my ambition and got me to even take my relationship with God more seriously.

Thank You ET, for your story. God must have sent you to remind me, not to give up so, I won't.

Thank you for your story and finally Thank you everything. God Bless you and your family!!

A story of his life

The book is about he life story and how he overcame obstacles. This book is more for high school kids or young adults. If you are already hungry for success and doing everything you can and wont stop? This book is not for you. His secret was just hard work and his faith in God to help him get through.

This Was Not A Self Help Book

I was really disappointed in this book. This was basically just a biography of Eric Thomas's life and it was so long, drawn out and boring. I really Eric Thomas as a motivational speaker and I thought this book would have the same motivation, tips and grit that all his speeches have. I had to force myself to finish it.

Eric of course... And bob.
