very informative however no real training outside

it's really good information for someone who wants to get and idea on how to interpret nutritional facts on dog food bags but not for somebody that wants to train there K9 outside of basic commands like sit and potty training

Everything you need to know

Great book. I learned much more than I expected! I love how they used real situations from their veterinary clinic as examples of different behavioral and health problems. You can definitely tell that they are professionals.

Good Book, Good Reader

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Good general book about all different aspects of raising a puppy, from choosing one to training it, to taking care of it if it gets sick. Very informative, well written, and broad. Good reader who was easy, and pleasurable to listen to, with the small exception of some terrible mispronunciations of medical words, and chemical names.

More than I expected

I expected this to be all "puppy talk" but it was so much more. It truely gives insight to why dogs do the things they do and how they read us and the things we do. I've been a dog lover for decades and shared my home with dogs most of my life, but still learned a lot from this book. It's full of useful information for anyone who lives with, works with, or just loves dogs - of any age. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Learned Loads

I have raised a lot of puppies over the years, but wanted to be ready to care for our new German Shepherd puppy perfectly right. Was surprised with how much I learned and have asked my spouse and adult children to please listen. I found the first 50-60 minutes boring (I suggested to my family that they skip) and the readers slow pace and mis-pronouncement of medical words is irritating. However, after enduring the opening, the book is full of care and training information backed by experience and research. Glad I listened.

Won't be recommending to clients

The narrator is very fry and unpleasant to listen to. He frequently pronounces words incorrectly which is probably not irritating for most people but it instantly turned me off. There was information that has been disproven and advice that may not be the best for a new puppy owner. For such an educated group of authors this book was disappointing. I won't be recommending reading this book for my clients.

Fantastic investment.

I've already listened to this audio book twice!

The narrator may seem dry at first but he is clever and steady. Perfect narrator for the topic at hand!
