Before he was the guardian of Ciri, the child of destiny, Geralt of Rivia was a legendary swordsman. Join the Witcher as he undertakes a deadly mission in this stand-alone adventure set in the Andrzej Sapkowki’s groundbreaking epic fantasy world that inspired the hit Netflix show and the blockbuster video games.

Geralt of Rivia is a Witcher, one of the few capable of hunting the monsters that prey on humanity. He uses magical signs, potions, and the pride of every Witcher—two swords, steel and silver.

But a contract has gone wrong, and Geralt finds himself without his signature weapons. Now he needs them back, because sorcerers are scheming, and across the world clouds are gathering.

Good story. Amazing acting!

This is the third book from The Witcher universe I’ve read so far. Overall I found that the lore in the books great however, I do feel that the author sometimes goes down the cute, somewhat nostalgic road. In all his stories he seems to weave in something concerning a story we grew up watching or listening to, particularly Disney princesses. He does put his own spin on the stories and their mentions are fleeting compared to the length of the book. Yet I find the inclusion of these stories unnecessary and I feel that they serve only as a detriment to the overall story. I would not consider the stories to be particularly well written but they are enjoyable to hear and the universe the author created is easy to get lost in, particularly if you’re a fan of the game adaptation of these book.
The voice actor is among the best voice actors I have ever heard on audible. Like many of the other voice actors you hear on audible, his voice changes with every character he personifies and he does a great job of making each one feel unique. He really puts effort into acting out the different scenes in a believable fashion. Was not crazy about him when he voiced The Last Wish because he got some of the pronunciation for some of the characters incorrect and his acting, although good, I did not consider great at the time. But by this story Peter Kenny had surpassed my expectations! Excellent work!

Great installment to the series.

Well worth it if you're committed to the story. Vodka, sounds strange in a fantasy novel!

Great continuation of the Witcher story

Better pacing than the previous two books and overall the story was more fluid and didn't read like a collection of short stories.

Okay

This book was alright. The performance was outstanding and Peter Kenny is quickly becoming one of my favorite narrators. The story itself was lacking, though. It seemed like a collection of short stories, haphazardly bound together, without a strong unifying storyline. There are some good characters and sequences, but I was left waiting for the overall story to take off, which it never did. It was fun, though, and I’d still recommend it if you want to read/listen to all of the Witcher books.
