Stories that touch your soul

True to its title, each chapter is a self-contained “sea story” that, for busy folks, can be “snacked” one chapter at a time or (as I did) all at once with the audio book READ BY ADM McCRAVEN. (Nothing beats a book read by the author!) In the he first two chapters, Adm McRaven teases the reader with dramatic stories of battle that...but no spoiler from me. You MUST read (or listen) it!
But the book is more than just stories. Adm McRaven link these stories to the values that define him—patriotism, religious faith, family, the deep friendships forged in combat. He favorably interprets the millennial generation in the context of his role as Navy seal commander and as chancellor of the University of TX System
The audio production is excellent. The beginning snd and of each chapter starts with the heroic, expansive music that I loved in the “Victory at Sea” TV series of the late 1950s about Navy ships and battles.
If you are a hero-worshipper, this book is for you!

Sea Stories puts into perspective and reminds us the sacrifices good men and women have made to keep our great Nation safe. The book gives insights into what it takes to be in an elite military unit and the meticulous preparation it takes to get there and to plan for military actions necessary to keep America and the world safe.

The book kept my interest from start to finish. It is truly inspiring to hear the stories of the individuals in the book, the decisions made, and the missions executed and completed for these modern day historic events.

We are fortunate to have men Like Admiral McRaven and those mentioned in this book who have dedicated their lives to protect the United States of America. I believe anyone reading this book will find it educational, insightful, enjoyable, and humbling as they explore and experience the dedication of our military, government agencies, and the people who had to make the tough decisions and carry out extremely serious and dangerous missions. A truly inspiring book with lessons in leadership and humanity.

Captivating sea stories

I really enjoyed this book and appreciated the author’s reading. I found myself sitting in my car to listen to each chapter!

A MUST HAVE!

I have not finished this book yet, but am SO enjoying it , I wanted to give it 5 stars so others who might be considering would jump in. 1. Narration by the author is fabulous 2. Stories are engaging 3. As a Navy brat, I loved hearing these types of stories as a kid!

Great book, he tells his story with great enthusiasm

I enjoyed listening to every second of it, it was hard to stop listening when I had to take breaks to get things done, he tells the story with great enthusiasm and keeps your interest going from the beginning to the very end.

Insightful and Interesting

As others have said, starts slow. Once it gets to the action, includes stories you've heard before. But, has interesting anecdotes about Clinton, Obama, Petraeus and others that add interesting color.

The Admiral

It was very interesting to hear how McRaven played a major role behind taking out some of the world's most evilest men. Go Navy!

Really Beautiful!

Gave me a much deeper appreciation of the courage and humanity of those who are risking their lives to protect us. The author has to be one of the most incredible human beings on the planet!
