Samantha was badass even before she learned magic. Fending for herself in the cauldron of a planet torn apart by an alien invasion taught Samantha how to kill. Ruthlessly efficient, her abilities have caught the attention of the Shadow Corps. A group comprised of deadly warriors who focus on galactic safety, using any means necessary. Her first mission puts her team up against a space dragon, death reapers, and the ultimate sorcerer. Samantha had better learn to master her alien magic, or be forced to watch her world, and many others, burn.
The Confederation has fought three wars against the forces of the totalitarian Union. Three generations of its warriors have gone off to war, held the line against the larger, more powerful enemy. Now the fourth conflict is imminent, and the Confederation's navy is on alert, positioned behind the frontier, waiting for the attack it knows is coming.
The Ixa smashed the galaxy to bits before they were defeated. Captain Husher has sounded the alarm in the decades since: the Ixa’s creators will return to finish the job. But unlike Husher, the galactic government didn't battle the Ixa, and the politicians have convinced themselves that maintaining peace means limiting the ability to wage war.

Yeah, the title pretty much sums it up. Had a blast listening to this series. Had gotten used to the narrator of the first two, who has a good voice, but Michaelson is much more expressive and versatile. Good change. Some of the reaper voices gave me the creeps!
The story itself has a satisfying ending and did not disappoint. Sometimes it was hard to tell when the flashbacks were going on, but not too bad. All in all and very worthwhile series. The different settings the author created were rewarding in the themselves and the action hardly let up.
